A revised 911 is only a year away but that hasn’t stopped Porsche from preparing new variants of the current 997. Not that it was particularly difficult to slap all-wheel drive on the current Carrera GTS, but it does add another option to the nearly endless mound of 911 submodels.
The Carrera 4 GTS adds 23 hp and delivers its maximum torque 200 rpm over the current Carrera 4S. Equipped with the seven-speed PDK transmission and the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus, the Carrera 4 GTS makes the sprint from zero to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds. That’s 0.2 of a second faster than the Carrera 4S. Top-track speed also increases two mph to 187.
Like every all-wheel-drive model, the Carrera 4 GTS features a 1.7-inch wider backend. This is something the two-wheel drive Carrera GTS also offered.
The Carrera 4 GTS also wears a revised front apron, black side skirts from the 911 GT2, and a black panel between the rear tailpipes. The lightweight 19-inch RS Spyder wheels, which have become Porsche's go-to wheels for every special model, will be standard on the Carrera 4 GTS.
The 911 Carrera 4 GTS coupe will be available in the U.S. at a base MSRP price of $110,200, a premium of $11,900 compared to the Carrera 4S.
