If you're reading this, you probably know that a majority of our subscribers either own or have owned a Porsche 911. For the factory to compete on the world stage, every sanctioning body requires a few production versions of the race car to be sold to the public. This is the story behind the Porsche GT2 RS for sale. Turbo technology improved significantly in the mid-90s, making it clear that Porsche could build a 911 twin-turbo without the reputation of the “widowmaker.” For the 993 GT2, only 57 examples were built to homologate the series. The air-cooled 3.6-liter engine produced 444 horsepower and 432 lb-ft of torque.

It took a few years to work out the kinks in water cooling and emissions, so we didn't see another GT2 until 2007. The first GT2 RS was announced in 2010, using large turbos and clever engineering to produce 612 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Only 131 cars were sold in the US and 10 in Canada. The reason for the low sales was that it lacked most creature comforts.

The GT2 RS does away with sound and heat insulation, along with all non-essential systems, shedding 150 lbs compared to the standard GT2. It was known internally as Project 727, in reference to the ‘Ring lap record of the Nissan GT-R. Examples of the first generation of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS have brought record numbers from collectors and dealers because they can dominate almost everything on the track or street.

We learned about the 2nd Generation 2018 Porsche GT2 RS early in 2017. Based on the 991.2 generation Porsche 911, it uses a twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six. With a strong home-field advantage, the Porsche GT2 RS's Nürburgring lap time proved it to be the fastest production car. In 2010, the goal was 7:27, and in only 6 years, the new record stands at 6:47.3. If you are looking for the fastest car on the market, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS price starts at $239,200.

The 2018 version will remain the cutting edge for years to come, but the 2011 examples are just as potent. Our dealers are ready to help you, so give them a call and get ready for Renn Sport!

All the beauty of a Porsche, paired with rear-wheel drive, the 2019 911 GT2 RS is the most robust 911 model the brand has ever manufactured. Crafted with lightweight materials like magnesium and carbon, the chassis aids in aerodynamic performance without sacrificing the sleek, muscular exterior associated with the signature Porsche style. Along with reduced weight, the 911 GT2 RS features an upgraded engine, improved suspension, and bigger brakes. Each component plays a key role in the unrivaled power and performance of the latest 911 GT2. The twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engine produces a staggering 700 horsepower with 553 lb-ft of raw torque. The top speed of 211 MPH is one of the fastest for the automaker, while the impressively fast 0 to 60 acceleration speed comes in at only 2.7 seconds. It is important to note that a Porsche is simply not a Porsche without an interior fit for a king or a queen. The 911 GT2, while focused on high-performance, does not stray from the brand's mission of luxury. Inside, drivers and passengers alike are greeted with ergonomic seats upholstered in black leather and red Alcantara. The remainder of the interior features a carbon-weave finish, along with a sporty steering wheel, cutting-edge sound system, a 4.6-inch color display screen, and a host of other technologies that improve the level of comfort and safety inside the cockpit.
