A small British automotive manufacturer called Keating is hoping its TKR supercar will be able to claim the title of world’s fastest production car. The title is currently held by the SSC Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo with a speed of 256 miles per hour. Keating claims its car has already proven itself with back-to-back runs of 260 mph on the Bonneville Salt Lake Flats. All it has to do now is replicate the two runs for the people at Gusiness World Records.
If it is able to achieve the title, it may mean that SSC has to provide new runs with its more powerful and aerodynamically enhanced Ultimate Aero TT that it introduced for 2009. A car that SSC has already claimed is capable of 270 mph!
On the other hand, if the power claims are true, Keating’s official runs may blow past its own assertions. Keating says its TKR is powered by a 7.0-liter engine making a heart-stopping 1,800 hp; 513 more than the new-for-2009 Ultimate Aero and 617 more horsepower than the car SSC originally set the world record with.
