Lotus has announced that it intends to complete on the same plane as the Italian exotics including Ferrari and Lamborghini within the next five years.
"Lotus was mentioned in the same sentence as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Maserati in the 1970–90," said Lotus CEO Dany Bahar "Then, it got closed into a corner. We believe it’s the right time to bring Lotus back to where it was."
This likely means a new hi-po exotic in the same spirit as the Esprit and using engineering techniques learned via its new Formula One team.
