A Lamborghini with a SV—short for Sport Veloce—badge has the added benefit of lower weight since it loses its all-wheel-drive system in favor of rear-wheel drive. The Murcielago SV, which should debut at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, will be the most powerful edition of the Murcielago to date. Expect horsepower in the high 500s, maybe even nudging the surface of the 600-hp marker. Combine the added power with a loss of approximately 220lbs and what you have is a true rear-tire scorcher.
Lamborghini is rumored to be revising the traction-control system to deal with that much power being sent to just two wheels. Lamborghini added all-wheel drive to help people, including celebrities with more money than talent, control their Lamborghinis. The added power, loss of weight and move to a rear-wheel drive format is a disaster waiting to happen in the wrong hands.
One sure-shot way of spotting the Murcielago SV is by its huge carbon-fiber rear wing.
