The Superamerica was first introduced in 2005 and included a key feature—the electrochromic glass panel roof—which was a first for a production vehicle. The Revocromico roof, which was patented, was constructed of carbon fiber and included a luggage compartment lid. Even with the roof open, owners have access to the luggage compartment thanks to a single access hinge on which the carbon fiber roof hangs. This variation of the M reaches a top speed of 199 mph and pushes 533 horsepower. Revealed at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, the GTZ was designed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 250 range and was designed by Zagato. Only six examples were built. The supercar was also the source of inspiration for several racing cars, with were dubbed the GTC.
