Whilst the body was clothed in an extraordinary design by Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina, the 365 GTB/4 would prove to be the last of a line of two seat front-engined V-12 Ferraris with a lineage going back to the beginning of the company.Fioravantiâs design was a remarkable departure from soft undulating lines of earlier Ferraris. Whilst producing something to counter Lamborghiniâs futuristic Miura, the 365 GTB/4âs design tread the fine line between staying true to Ferrariâs design ethos and breaking convention with something truly original. Today, the Pininfarina body is unmistakeably Ferrari and belies its true age of 55 years.Despite looking quite unlike its predecessor, the 365 GTB/4 was directly developed from the 275 GTB/4. Two prototypes left the factory showing the evolution between the two models but underneath the skin was a similar chassis. Despite the engine increasing in capacity by over a litre, the quad-cam timing, six twin-choke Weber carburettors and dry-sump lubrication remained, all features derived from Ferrariâs dominant success at the race circuit. The 275âs outstanding weight distribution remained with the continued use of the transaxle.When the 365 GTB/4 was launched it was one of the most powerful cars ever produced, designed to easily cross continents at outrageous speeds. This was typified by Dan Gurney and Brock Yates claiming the first Cannonball Run victory in a 365 GTB/4, charging from New York City to Los Angeles in just under 36 hours. Away from illegal road racing, the 365 GTB/4 was developed by Ferrari for Group IV GT racing. Results were tremendous, as the race-prepared berlinettas captured 4th overall at the 1971 Tour de France, 5th overall and 1st in class at the 1972 24 Hours of Le Mans, 1st and 2nd overall in the 1972 Tour de France, two further class wins at Le Mans in 1973 and 1974, and at the 24 Hours of Daytona a 2nd overall and class win in the 1973 running and a further class win there in 1975. So potent was the Daytona Competizione that one even achieved 2nd overall at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1979, over a decade after the model was introduced. This extraordinary race record secured the 365 GTB/4âs reputation amongst the greatest GT competition cars ever to compete on track, reminding the motorsport world of Ferrariâs dominance in endurance racing with the 250 SWB, 250 GTO, and 250 LM.This 365 GTB/4, chassis number 16331, is one of only 158 Daytonas produced in RHD. Delivered in February 1973 the car was originally ordered by Mr. Heryet through Maranello Concessionaires but he cancelled his order, so the Daytona went to its first owner the Honorable John Dawnay, known by his title as Viscount Downe. Dawnay was a fascinating character who entered cars like Aston Martin DP214, Nimrod, a Ferrari 250 GTO and Ford GT40 into major sportscar races. This 365 GTB/4 was ordered in the stunning colour combination of Argento Auteuil over a Nuvola leather interior, with several desirable options including Cromodora wheels, a bumper bar and air conditioning. Shortly after registering the car, Dawnay sold this Daytona through Maranello Concessionairs to Sir Raymond Johnstone CBE, a well-known Scottish businessman. Johnstone kept his Daytona until 1980 when it passed into the hands of another well-known car enthusiast, David Lomas. During Lomasâ ownership, this Daytona shared garage space with a 250 SWB, 275 GTB/4, a Jaguar C-type and D-type, and an Aston Martin DB4GT. Such was Lomasâ care for this Daytona that he kept a logbook of every journey, mileage and notes. Along with the logbook is a significant amount of invoices from workshops such as Graypaul and DK Engineering, whilst the outstanding bare metal respray by RS Panels carried out in 1993 is fully documented as well. Lomas passed away in 1998 and his last note in the logbook clearly shows how much he enjoyed this Ferrari, âBack at Moss Cottage, car perfect.â.This Daytona formed part of a private collection until 2007 and it only covered 900 miles during this ownership. Between 2007 and 2010 it was owned by Gareth Richardson before passing to Ian Tandy and then Chris Evans before moving into the ownership of Neil Ewin. Between 2011 and 2017 it was maintained by Italia Autosport of West Yorkshire, with prior invoices from SMDG Performance Cars and DK Engineering.Since 2017, this 365 GTB/4 has been part of a significant collection and is offered with its original books and pouch, along with an original jack roll. This Ferrari would be attractive enough simply for its stunning colour combination, but further to this it is accompanied by a remarkable history file, detailing its excellent provenance from new. Ferrari of Lake Forest is Proud to Present this 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC4 Finished in Stunning Nero over Nero Leather Interior. This 365 GTC4 was originally finished in Oro Kelso over Nero Cogolo leather interior. Originally delivered new in 1972 through Luigi Chinetti Motors in Greenwich CT. Some time in the 90s the car was refinished to the black you see here today. Equipped with correct Borrani Wire Wheels. The 365 GTC4 was produced at the same time as the legendary 365 Daytona. The 365 GTC/4 were built and produced at the Pininfarina and limited to just 505 total units over a 2 year production run. Equipped with a Colombo V12 displacing 4.4L and making a stout 316 bhp. The biggest difference in this V12 from the Daytona was the use of side-draft Weber carbs which allowed for a more sloping hood line. Another difference from the Daytona was the use of a transmission bolted to the engine vs a transaxle. According to the history on the car, it looks like in 2004 this 365 GTC4 won the Ferrari Coppa Bella Macchina Award and Platinum Award at Ferrari Concourse Judging in Monterey California. Also in 2004 this 365 GTC4 went through a cosmetic and mechanical restoration where the car was refinished in its original color Corsa Red, had the engine rebuilt, transmission gone through, new clutch installed, suspension rebuilt, amongst other items. 365 GTB/4 DAYTONA BERLINETTA
 
 
The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 marked an end of an era – the last of the legendary front engine V-12 grand tourers that stretched all the way back to the Ferrari 250 GTs in the 1950s. The 365 GTB/4 received its nickname “Daytona” in honor of Ferrari’s one-two-three finish at the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours race. The Daytona features a 4,390 cc Tipo 251 “Colombo” V-12 with 352 horsepower at 7,500 rpm.
 
 
We’re pleased to offer this gorgeous and recently restored Daytona Berlinetta, finished in Blu Dino over Vintage Tan. Chassis 15229 was the 721st example built, delivered new to its owner – Willy Valentini of Cosenza in 1972. In 1976, the Daytona found its way to the U.S. where it was acquired by a cardiologist, Dr. Elias Saadi of Youngstown, Ohio. Dr. Elias owned the Daytona for over two decades and within his ownership had it painted in Rosso Chiaro. After Dr. Elias sold the car in 1999, it passed between several owners in Texas and California. In 2012, the Daytona underwent an extensive, $40,000 engine and transmission rebuild following a rear suspension rebuild and Ansa muffler installation. Several years later, in 2018, the Daytona was sent to GTO Engineering in Los Angeles for an upgraded electric steering kit. The following year, in 2019, the Daytona would be extensively restored, traveling between GTO Engineering in LA and the UK for a complete engine and mechanical rebuild, and body paint and interior restoration.
 
 
This Daytona is a true one-of-a-kind. Its striking blue paint, Chromodora alloy wheels, and chrome trim shine. Inside, the newly upholstered tan leather completes the look – a perfect specification one might say.

Competizione conversion by Carrozzeria Auto Sport, now known as Bacchelli & Villa and renowned for their bodywork repairs and restorations. They’re based in Modena, Enzo Ferrari’s hometown, and famously worked on the fiberglass-bodied Ferrari 512 BB LM race cars. The founder, Franco Bacchelli, began working on cars when he started working for Piero Drogo, Ferrari racing driver and coachbuilder, when he was just 14 years old.
While this 365 GTB/4 Competizione is not one of the factory cars, it’s evident that this conversion was made with a high degree of expertise and skill in the traditional way. The most striking part are the beautifully sculpted wheel arches which are significantly wider than standard to accommodate wider wheels and tyres. This conversion involved changing various aspects of the car including the special headlights, front spoiler, air intakes and the installation of a roll cage.
As was tradition for Ferrari in the past, the Daytona has V12 in the front and it’s rear-driven. The fastback styling with the long bonnet is beautiful, but it has a real race car feel thanks to the conversion. The cars that followed, the 365 GT4 BB and Testarossa, changed to a mid-engine layout but Ferrari returned to their traditional front-mounted V12 with the 550 Maranello and has maintained it to this day with the 812 Superfast.
