The average collector car value of a Ferrari F40 for sale has climbed to a point where figures near the $2 million mark are not uncommon. For those who are interested in purchasing a Ferrari F40, we have a selection of pristine examples for sale.

Crafted and designed as a celebration of Ferrari’s 40th anniversary, the F40 represents the last automobile from the Ferrari marque personally approved by Enzo Ferrari. While debuting in 1987 with a suggested retail price of $400,000, some of the Ferrari car listings sold for an estimated $1.6 million up until the 1992 cut-off of model production.

With speed and efficiency in mind rather than the luxury of the GT coupes of the 60s, the F40 Ferrari illuminates the features other carbon-fiber crafted Ferraris used as their inspiration. Many high-performance marques seek to trim weight in any manner possible. The case of the F40 is no different. Plastic has been favored over glass for the windshield and windows. And while the average pedestrian may think it strange to pay more for less, that sentiment misses the mark. There is a certain beauty in efficiency and purpose evident in this car from every angle. The immaculate Rossa Corsa paint is so thin that one can see the weave of the carbon fiber bodywork in the right light. There is no carpet, but the seams of the carbon-fiber monocoque arrest the eye more effectively than any plush lambswool floor mat.

While not originally intended for racing, a non-sponsored version of the F40 found its way to a competition at Laguna Seca as early as 1989 and finished third in the GTO category. In another variation, the Ferrari F40 Competizione represents a more powerful line emulating the successful race cars. Only ten examples were built, the first two under the F40 LM badge and the rest under the less restrictive title of F40 Competizione.
