With prices originally starting in the US at $845,000 in 2013, the last Porsche 918 for sale had been sold by December 2014. Now the only way to procure a used Porsche 918 Spyder is from private owners or firms when the automobiles do periodically come up for sale.  For those interested in purchasing a Porsche 918, we have limited listings for sale in both the coupe and spyder versions, vary depending on availability.

The Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar incorporates a hybrid-electric drive train to increase power and fuel efficiency. With a combined horsepower of 887, 940 lb-ft of torque and an estimated 67 mpg, this hypercar packs serious speed and economy into one package. The two electric motors driving the front and rear wheels combine for a total of 279 hp on top of the 4.6-liter V8’s 608 hp at 8,500 rpm. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2010 as a limited-edition supercar and the second plug-in hybrid from Porsche, the company vowed to produce only 918 units of the model from the beginning of production in 2013. A spyder version of the Porsche 918 also emerged in 2010 and has been produced.

In addition to the two power sources, the lightning-fast Porsche PDK seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission couples the massive torque output to the tarmac with freakish acceleration results: 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, 0-120 mph in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 210 mph.

The 4.6-liter gas engine charges the lithium-ion batteries when the vehicle is underway, and the process continues as you turn into the corners through regenerative braking. When parked, the batteries can be recharged over the period of two hours via a plug-in charger accessed through the passenger side B-pillar.

For those who seek the best of the best will want to look for a used 918 Weissach Edition. The Weissach package reduces weight by 99 lbs. This includes ceramic wheel bearings, magnesium wheels, a lighter brake design, and titanium bolts for the chassis. Weight is also saved by eliminating paint in favor of a thin film coating on the body.
