The first year of the 2.4 liter engine  S suspension, sport seats, 6J x 15 Fuchs wheels, comfort equipment, S front spoiler and appearance package Porsche COA 1972 was the most popular year for the 911 given its relocated oil tank forward of the rear wheel and very recognizable exterior oil fill door  In 1972 Porsche upgraded the 911 to a new and larger 2,341cc engine. With an increase in torque and power, the 2.4-liter cars were also given a new and more robust 5-speed mag case transmission (915) and a relocated oil tank to balance the vehicle's weight distribution. The U.S. 911's featured mechanical fuel injection (MFI) and was rated at 140hp (Type 911/51).  The newly featured 2.4 liters were a considerable improvement. Not only were horsepower and torque increased, but they played a significant role in assisting Porsche to adhere to stricter emission regulations. The 2.4-liter made it possible to employ lower compression ratios in an era when gasoline quality was in a severe decline among regions. The increased displacement (2195cc to 2344cc) came due to a 4.4mm stroke lengthening and a 1mm bore increase.  Along with the improved engine, transmission, and weight distribution, this 911T has other important options such as S suspension, sport seats, 6J x 15 Fuchs wheels, comfort equipment, S front spoiler, and appearance package. Before arriving at Canepa, this specific example belonged to a Midwestern collector. Unlike the others in his collection, this 911T had a long-standing history of being traded only among resident enthusiasts and collectors of Cedar Brook, Iowa, where it was initially sold new. This is a rare occurrence, considering this is a 50-year-old car.  Upon arrival at Canepa, every collector car for sale is put through an extensive and diligent process called the "Canepa Difference." This includes a major and comprehensive mechanical inspection where all systems are checked and serviced as necessary. They also receive an award-winning concours-level detailing, including a thorough cleaning of each and every surface.  After being inspected, our team went to work on recommissioning this extremely original low mileage example. Our focus throughout the entire recommissioning was to preserve this 911T's originality. Mechanically, our first step was to remove and inspect the engine and transmission. We then completed a compression and leak-down test and resealed the entire engine as needed. During this process, we also adjusted the valves, serviced the mechanical fuel injection pump, replaced the exhaust manifold studs, synchronized the throttle bodies, replaced the clutch, and resealed the transmission. During the servicing of the fuel system, we cleaned the fuel tank and then replaced the fuel hoses and tank vent hoses. Next was installing new brake hoses, restored/rebuilt brake calipers, new front and rear Bilstein struts, reconditioned brake rotors, serviced wheel bearings, etc. Final steps were to replace batteries, rebuild the shift linkage, restore the horns, perform a 4-wheel alignment and finish with extensive road testing. A concours level detail (over 100 hours) including hand cleaning every area of the engine, transmission, chassis, engine bay, underbody, etc. Complete and careful detailing of every corner of the front trunk, interior and exterior finishes and trim. With an air-cooled 402 horsepower twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, sending power through its 959-derived all-wheel drivetrain, these cars quickly became known for their awesome real-world performance. With the ability to outperform sports cars double the price, the 993 Turbo was an ultimate tour-de-force of performance, technology, and comfort.  This spectacular 1997-year model 993 Turbo was manufactured at Porsche's Stuttgart factory in October 1996 in the stunning color combination of Arctic Silver metallic paint over a Classic Grey Leather interior. Delivered to its original Californian owner the following month, November 27, 1996, it was ordered with the additional options including electric sunroof, automatic speed control, and Becker Porsche CD-radio.  After more than six years and 5,565 miles, the Turbo found a new caretaker on March 28, 2003, who over the next thirteen years maintained the car in pristine condition, adding an additional 10,750 miles. During the past four years the Turbo's most recent owner has entrusted maintenance to McKenna Porsche in Norwalk, California. With just 371 miles added during this time, the 993 currently shows a total of 16,734 on the odometer. In anticipation of sale, a major service was completed on April 29, 2021, by Porsche of Newport Beach, California at a cost of $8,215.40.  Upon arriving here at Canepa, it was clear that this 993 Turbo had been collector owned as it was delivered in like-new condition. Even so, like every vehicle that comes through our doors, it was subjected to our Canepa Difference process. The 993 was thoroughly inspected and underwent a comprehensive service, including road testing and a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. After being serviced and passing our meticulous final inspection, the vehicle was detailed by our concours level detailing department, ensuring that this iconic Porsche would be ready for presentation on any Porsche Club of America, or Concours d'Elegance show lawn. The Arctic Silver paintwork was polished with foam pads to a beautiful sheen that rivals the day it was delivered new, and the interior has been treated to the most careful cleansing techniques, ensuring all materials remain original as new. The underside of the car has received the same conscientious attention to detail, with every surface and component cleaned and prepared for concours show level presentation.  This 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo will bring endless enjoyment to its new caretaker.
