Please email  or call 1-*number in the description*  About the 996 GT2:  The 996 platform was used as the basis for two lightweight GT variants called the GT2 and the GT3.  The turbocharged GT2, was rear-wheel drive to save weight and to avoid power losses through the transmission (This is primarily due to the fact that the GT2 was built to compete in GT2 class racing, which restricted the use of an all-wheel-drive system). The GT2 received an added group of aerodynamic body parts, and a re-tuned version of the 996 Turbo's 3.6 litre, twin-turbocharged engine featuring larger turbochargers and intercoolers, a revised intake and exhaust system and re-programmed engine control software. The result was 477HP at 5,700 rpm and 472 lbfâft of torque at 3,500 to 4,500 rpm, enough to launch the car from 0â60 in 3.9 seconds and to a top speed of 196 mph.  Bigger wheels and tires along with lightweight ceramic brakes were standard. The GT2's fixed rear wing appears to be a concession to racing rules that usually outlaw adjustable aerodynamic components. The GT2 had no rear seat was available only with a 6-speed manual transmission.  The GT2 models use the Aluminum crankcase of the air-cooled 911 with its true dry sump oiling system. The six separate individual Nikasil lined cylinders in this engine are covered with two separately installed water jackets each covering a bank of 3 cylinders on each side of the engine, thus adding water cooling to a crankcase originally designed for air-cooled cylinders (the standard 996 Carrera engine has the cylinders and water jackets cast together with the crankcase).  Like the 993 GT2, the body of the 996 GT2 differed significantly from those of other 996 variants; major differences included wider fenders, a more aggressively shaped nose, and a large rear wing.  According to road testing performed by Car and Driver magazine, the GT2 suffers from hardly any turbo lag. Despite a 10-millimeter reduction in ride height from the 911 Turbo, the drag coefficient is slightly higher - Cd=0.34 vs. the Turbo's 0.33 - due to the fixed rear wing.

Porsche’s 993 generation was the swan song for Porsche’s revered, and storied, air-cooled era, and simultaneously igniting a contemporary legend, the GT2. The 993 GT2 was a true road-going homologation version of the hair-raising, twin-turbocharged monster GT2 racecar that was found battling out the FIA GT Championship across every inch of tarmac on the Mulsanne. Regrettably, despite the motorsport success, the hyper-limited 993 GT2 would remain forbidden fruit for discerning American enthusiasts. 

The second generation Porsche GT2 was first introduced to America with the, then controversial, 996 generation of 911’s. Despite its controversy, the 996 heralded in the Mezger engine, and what is now considered a modern legend built on the back of extensive Le Mans DNA. The GT2 would be powered by a new Mezger engine in the form of the M96/70S, a turbocharged 3.6 liter flat-6 delivering a breathtaking 476HP and 398ft/lb of torque through a 6 speed manual gearbox, with power routed only to the rear wheels. Combined with a 220 pound weight savings diet over a standard Turbo, the GT2 was poised to set the world ablaze. 

Journalists testing the 996 generation GT2 found the car to be viable and enjoyable throughout the course of standard everyday operations, such as visiting the shops or heading to work. Determined to leave no driver inattentive, the Weissach engineers set out to create a car that demanded the respect it deserved; and meet that goal, they did. Despite this docile appearance under mundane situations, the GT2 was highly capable when the envelope was pushed, with numerous reporters finding that, with the full expanse of a track, the GT2 showed to be serious yet cooperative. Motor Trend brilliantly summed up the GT2 best by noting, “it has no inherent bad habits, but will identify and exaggerate yours. The GT2 brings attitude to your driving that adds fun no matter how fast you're going.”
