Jacob Fleischhauer founded his car dealership in Cologne, Germany, in 1924. Still in business to this day, and currently employing more than 1,200 people, the company has seen its fair share of adversity before earning its position as one of the largest within the German auto industry. After being destroyed by bombs during World War II, it was rebuilt, and in 1948 became the general agent for VW Porsche in Cologne, expanding to 570 sales and service employees within the year.

On February 28, 1973, Porsche Autohaus Jacob Fleischhauer welcomed the accomplished American music publisher and industry executive, Howard Spencer Richmond, to its new-car delivery center. Richmond, a native of Rancho Mirage, California, and co-founder of the National Academy of Popular Music and the Songwriters' Hall of Fame, was to be presented with the keys of his new Silver Metallic 911S Coupe. Upon receipt, Richmond immediately embarked on a tour of Europe, returning to the dealership exactly two months later, with 855 miles on the odometer. The 911S then received its scheduled 1,000 mile Service, which was duly stamped in the cars Maintenance Record book, and shipped to Richmond's home in California.

Once in California, Howard Richmond continued to enjoy his 911S Coupe, and entrusted Andial Road & Racing in Santa Ana, California for all routine servicing, with oil changes completed at least once a year, regardless of how little mileage was travelled. In February 1995, at Richmond's request, Andial performed a major service at 18,169 miles, to include a reseal of both the engine and transmission, and replacement of the clutch.

After more than twenty-four years of ownership, in June of 1997, Howard Richmond decided it was time for a new owner to take care of his beloved Silver Metallic 911S, and he hired Wayne Jenkins of Exotic Car Services to manage the sale on his behalf. In a letter dated July 5, Richmond congratulates Bob Cowley on his purchase, noting \"It was one of my most treasured possessions.\" Cowley, an astute collector, new that the 911S was a special car indeed, and in-turn sought to find a new caretaker that understood the desirability of an undisturbed, sub twenty-thousand mile, highly optioned \"long-hood\" 911 S. Enter James Robinson, the 911's second long-term owner. Robinson purchase the Porsche from Cowley on July 27th, 1998 for $33,000. Showing approximately 19,300 miles since new, Robinson spent the next twenty-three years treating the 911S Coupe to the finest in maintenance and reconditioning, with preservation always at top of mind. Located in Oregon, Robinson hired German Master Tech in Bend to keep his Porsche in perfect running order, and added just 1,500 miles during his more than two decades of tenureship.

When searching for an investment grade example of any collectible sports car, we start with a check list of desirable attributes. The last year of production for a particular model run often tops the list due to refinements made throughout the production cycle. Rare, or desirable options are always valuable. Originality too, is important, with highly preserved finishes highly sought after. Documented provenance is most certainly a silver lining in any serious collectors search. Which leads us to this 911S Coupe.

Shy of the Carrera RS, the beautiful and powerful 1973 911 S Coupe represents the pinnacle of Porsche's lightweight sports cars from the early 1970s. The year 1973 marked the final year of the \"long-hood, thin-bumper\" period of Porsche design. The following model year would bring five-mph safety bumpers and increased weight. The high-performance 1973 \"S\" had a highly responsive 2.4-liter Type 911/53 engine that packed a wallop, with 190 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. It was bolted to a new Type 915 transmission, which offered stronger internals and a simplified shifting pattern.

This spectacular Silver Metallic 911S was ordered new by Howard Spencer Richmond as a U.S. Equipment model, with Factory installed Tinted Glass, Blaupunkt Frankfurt Radio, Power Antenna, Air Conditioning, and the rare Full Leather Interior in Black. In remarkable original condition, the interior leather surfaces extend to the front seats (with cloth inserts), rear seat backs and cushions, door panels, rear interior trim surround panels, and package shelf. Treated as a member of the family by two long-term owners, it has never been subject to corrosion, or been in need of restoration outside of sympathetic reconditioning, and routine mechanical maintenance. Documented since new, including its European delivery and first service stamps in its included original Maintenance Record booklet, this 911S is a true investment grade preservation superstar!

Upon arrival at Canepa, the overall condition, and level of preservation was a joy to behold. This was a car that deserved to be treated to the full Canepa Difference process. Every aspect of the coachwork, interior, and underside were detailed to perfection, ensuring a show-field ready presentation. Furthermore, the entire drivetrain is currently being fine tuned by the expert Porsche mechanics at Canepa, affording a true turn-key experience for the lucky next caretaker. If you have been searching for a true investment quality \"long hood\" Porsche 911S, that can be both driven and shown upon receipt, in the best colors, with factory optioned A/C, then look no further.
