*1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28*In September 1966 Chevrolet released the Camaro as direct competition for the exceptionally popular Ford Mustang which went on sale a year and a half before. Unlike the Mustang though, right out of the gate Chevrolet outfitted the Camaro with some truly potent engines and a great chassis underneath which even made a pretty standard Camaro a respectable performer on the track. But for the true driving enthusiast, there was only one option in the Camaro lineup - the Z/28. Conceived by GM performance legend Vince Piggins, the Z/28 was designed as a direct competitor to the Mustang Boss 302 in the SCCA Trans Am series with just minor modifications.This 1968 Camaro Z/28 was sold new at Sellman Chevrolet in Orange, CA and remained in the hands of the original owner for 29 years. The car has been under the care of the consignor since 2012, and remains in very good condition throughout. Finished in LeMans Blue with White Stripes, this Z/28 sits on a 15-inch set of Rallye wheels with period-appropriate redline tires and a matching spare in the trunk. The car is fitted with a cowl hood as well as a lower front spoiler and a decklid spoiler that were designed to be used on the competition models.The inside is fitted with a pair of bucket seats with a center console separating them and a rear bench. The three spoke steering wheel frames a speedometer and tic-toc tachometer with the Z/28 appropriate 6,500 rpm redline. On the center console, the car is fitted with a four-pack of auxiliary gauges in what became one of Camaro's most defining interior styling elements.Sitting under the hood is a numbers matching 302ci V8 that is rated from the factory at 290 horsepower and 290lb-ft of torque. It was rebuilt by Nelson Automotive in Portland, OR in 2009 and has seen minimal use since. Although not the most powerful engine from a numbers perspective, what made the Z/28 special was this engine's short stroke, aluminum intake manifold and solid lifters to make it rev. Notoriously, with just a few simple modifications it could become a full-on race motor. In this car, the engine is backed by a Muncie M21 4-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels via a 12-bolt rear end with 3.73 gears. To make the car more pleasant to drive, it is fitted with both power steering and power disc brakes.To anybody that knows muscle cars, Z/28 means performance. From its racing roots to its thinly veiled competition engine, the Camaro Z/28 is a car that will long be sought after for its excellent driving characteristics. Front spoiler and rear decklid spoiler, finished with rally striping on the hood and rear deck. Added Z28 emblems and cowl induction hood.
New black original interior and new carpet with Grant GT steering wheel. Vintage Air. OEM push button AM/FM radio with auxilary line in put. Five speed Hurst Shifter.
Here is where everything gets excting. This car is equipped with all aluminum Brodix 583 CI V-8 engine. Brodix BB-3 Xtra series heads. 850 CFM carburetor. Callies crankshaft and Wisecoe pistons – Jesel belt. ATI balancer, Jones pulley and belts, MSD 6AL ignition, Tremec 5 speed transmission, custom Hedman headers.
Underneath you will find Flowmaster exhaust, Wilwood disc brakes, Chris Alston front clip with rack and pinion steering. Moser 9 inch rear end, tublular control arms, front coil overs, subframe connectors.
Riding on Billet Specialties 18 inch wheels and Nitto 555 Extreme ZR tires.

This 1968 Camaro is equipped with a new LSA supercharged engine with only test miles. Lingenfelter conversion and tuned, Magnuson 2300 supercharger. C & R aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. Tremec 6-speed transmission. Ceramic coated headers with stainless exhaust with Borla mufflers. Billet radiator to inner fender braces.
Wilwood 4-wheel power disc brakes, Power rack and pinion steering. TCI tubular front sub-frame, TCI torque arm rear end with 51 inch Moser rear end. TCI frame connectors, 4 corner TCI adjustable coil over shocks. Detroit speed mini tub kit. Fuel tank by Tanks Inc..
TMI interior with houndstooth material, VHX Dakota Digital dash VHX console gauges, Vintage air, Ididit tilt steering column, Retro sound kicker sound system. LED taillights.
PPG base coat clear coat. All riding on 19 x 11 and 19 x 8.5 custom Boze wheels.
