BJ Motors is thrilled to offer this fully-restored 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS L89 finished in Black over Black interior. This '69 SS was 1 of 311 examples optioned with the L89 Aluminum Head V8, which shaved 70lbs of weight off the front end when new. The car was the recipient of a comprehensive rotisserie restoration that was completed in 2021, and since then it has taken home multiple awards, including Silver at the Keels and Wheels Concours, Best of Show Camaro at the Corvette Chevy Expo in Galveston, TX, and more. The car retains its original 396ci V8 and has been upgraded with a bigger cam, ceramic-coated headers, a custom exhaust, Holly Sniper Stealth EFI, and more. Additionally, a Vintage Air A/C system was intalled and keeps the refreshed interior cool during hot Texas summers. Creative Customs and Classics in Kemah, TX oversaw the restoration while Kemah Classic Automotive and Owens Racing Engines performed the engine overhaul. All documentation from the restoration is included, as well as a thumb drive with restoration photos and the stock carburator. Often seen as one of the most iconic muscle cars to date, the first-generation Chevrolet Camaro was designed as a competitor to the Mustang and was initially launched in 1966 for the 1967 model year. The first generation of the Camaro was produced on an entirely new platform and lasted until the 1969 model year. Although a straight-six was standard, the first-generation Camaro could be optionally equipped with a variety of V8 engines. There were also several optional transmissions available, including a four-speed manual and a two-speed automatic. 

For the 1969 model year, the Camaro’s drivetrain and other major mechanical components were carried over, but all-new sheet metal was used that gave the car a substantially sportier look. The front grill was revised and featured a heavier “V” cant with deeply inset headlights. This new front end, along with new door skins, rear quarter panels, and rear valence, gave the car a much lower, wider, and more aggressive look. 

Now offered for sale, Blue Chip is proud to present this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396. Currently in Restored-Original condition, this Camaro is finished in the same paint and interior specification as it was when new. A Black Vinyl roof sits atop a Fathom Green exterior, and the interior is wrapped in Midnight Green leather as specified from the factory. Period-correct Chevrolet Motor Division wheels are finished in Silver and are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A Tires, and this Camaro is complemented by white “SS” striping along each side and a “396” badge in white on both sides of the front of the car. Additionally featured on both the front grill and just above the rear bumper, the car wears the “SS” badge to denote the Super Sport package, which was a factory-equipped trim level that consisted of a 396-cubic-inch V8, chassis upgrades for better handling, non-functional air inlets on the hood, and the aforementioned side striping. Mated to a four-speed manual transmission, the 396-cubic-inch V8 was factory rated at 375 brake-horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque when new. 

Inside the cabin, standard front bucket seats and rear bench seats are wrapped in Midnight Green leather, which further extends to the dashboard, door cards, window sills, center consoles, and vanity mirrors. Woodgrain trim is visible on the driver’s side dashboard, the gear selector housing, and the steering wheel. An Alpine Stereo head unit has been fitted into the dashboard in place of the original unit.

This example was fully restored under previous ownership, and the finished product is highlighted in a photo album that is offered as an accessory to the car. The vehicle was purchased in its restored condition by the current owner in 2019 from an out-of-state independent dealer. Some light mechanical and interior repair was performed under current ownership, as well as the addition of the period correct Chevrolet Motor Division wheels. Receipts from both the restoration and the services performed under current ownership are included with the sale.

With 90,502 original miles presented on the odometer, this 1969 Camaro SS 396 is available with an extensive binder of previous service records, photo album, an original Camaro Service Manual from 1969, two keys, and a clean Colorado title.
