he Chevy Chevelle for sale is a mid-sized vehicle produced by Chevrolet between 1964 and 1977. The Chevelle was available as a coupe, sedan, convertible, or station wagon, making it such a significant part of Chevy's lineup and legacy. In fact, several model years of El Caminos and the Monte Carlo's were also based on the popular Chevelle platform. Together, they helped the Chevelle line dominate a large portion of Chevy sales until it was phased out and re-named for its top-level trim, the Malibu, in 1978. The first generation Chevelle (1964–1967) helped to solidify the Chevelle as “America’s most popular mid-size car.

The 1970 Chevelle is the highlight of the second-generation Chevelle (1968-1972). Thanks to sheet metal revisions, they benefitted from new, squared-up styling. The 1970 Chevelle sport coupe was a 2-door pillarless hardtop and was available with several engine choices. They ranged from a standard 155-horsepower six-cylinder and 200-horsepower 307 cubic inch V8 engine all the way up to a pair of 350 V8s or a pair of 420 engines.

The more powerful 1970 LS6 Chevelle was also equipped with a single 4-barrel 800 CFM carburetor that produced a whopping 450 bhp. Only 4,475 LS6 Chevelles were ever built. Another variation sold that year, the 1970 Chevrolet Pro Touring Chevelle, is also a coveted collectible for Chevelle connoisseurs. The quintessential classic, Chevelle Pro Touring hardtops are the sturdy, sporty poster children for American muscle cars of the 70s.

The Chevelle SS for sale, short for SuperSport edition, includes a 350-horsepower Turbo-Jet 396 V8 engine and a unique suspension, sleek "power dome" hood, black ‘SS’ accents on the front grill. The SS came with wide oval tires that are mounted on sport wheels. These are the rarest and highly coveted of the collectible Chevelle’s as few of them were produced thanks to revisions in the Chevelle design between 1969 and 1972. After the 1971 model year, the SS version was more of a dress-up option than indicative of higher performance due to the options that could be selected. The other SS option was the SS 454 Chevelle with a 454 cubic inch 7.4L-V8 engine rated for an impressive 360-horsepower.

From 1972, the top of the line Malibu trim of the Chevelle lineup grew in popularity. These upscale models included more than 24,000 sport sedans and several V8-powered Chevelle convertibles. Don Yenko, a Chevy dealer and retired Corvair and Corvette race car driver, created his own line of signature, supercharged Chevelles as part of his Yenko Super Cars.

As a Chevy dealer, Yenko created a special production order for the Yenko Chevelle. Instead of the largest factory 396 V8 engine, he was able to order the Chevelle with L72 427 cubic inch 7.0L engine and a 40-barrel 800 CFM Holley Carburetor that produced 425 bhp and 460 lb-ft of torque with necessary drive train upgrades. Other Chevy dealers would popularize the Yenko Chevelle as a custom Chevelle for sale by ordering the same package and selling them as their own supercars.
