You can sum up this 1955 Chevrolet 3100 3-Window pickup in just one word: BRILLIANT. Glowing, miles-deep, lustrous Royal Crimson paint with hints of metallic and pearlescence inside, deleted bumpers and a custom-finished bed, a luxurious leather and A/C interior, and a thumping 350 Ram Jet V8 crate motor under the hood give this hauler the all the right credentials. Based on looks alone, it easily qualifies as one of the slickest trucks we've featured at Streetside in years, but it's also got all the right performance hardware to back it up.   The first half of 1955 was the last hurrah of the uber-popular Advance-Design pickups (aka known as the 1955 First Series), and they signaled the end of a design era that catapulted Chevrolet to the top of the American carmaker landscape. Although still a utilitarian pickup, GM knew the market wanted a more civilized machine, and the First Series trucks were the first step toward the complete overhaul resulting in the Task Force trucks that came along in the latter half of the year. As a result, customs like this look especially smooth, thanks to their curvaceous fenders, iconic grille, and long hood. This build obviously took some liberties with the original look â including a slightly chopped roof, deleted bumpers fore and aft, and a color-matched bed-top in the back â but they aren't so radical that the original 3100 design is completely forgotten. Other cool tricks include frenched antennae, late-model side mirrors, and shaved door handles, and all the custom paint and bodywork was done to a very high standard â to the tune of $35K in labor alone. Getting attention has never been difficult for Chevy's Advanced-Design trucks, but the gleaming Royal Crimson paint on this 3-Window will have folks stopping in their tracks. Painted just a year-and-a-half ago, the vibrant dark cherry/burgundy shade was borrowed from the 2018 Ford Mustang color chart and looks so fresh that you'll be tempted to touch it to see if it's still wet. It was finished to a top-end, driver-quality standard that most would consider show-ready, with an incredible depth of clarity, consistent uniformity, and an amazing shine from the deep layers of clearcoat that almost make you avert your eyes under direct sunlight. It's not perfect, but you really have to strain hard to find any minor imperfections worth complaining about. Other than the chrome grille and headlight surrounds, all the original trim and badging was removed, replaced with modern CHEVROLET block letters on the hood and tailgate. Out back, the rear bumper was swapped out for an LED-imbedded roll pan, and the tailgate and bed cover above it was smoothed and painted to match the body. Inside that bed you'll find everything was finished to maximum standards as well, with a heavy-duty mat protecting the floor, blacked-out walls and fenders, and a relocated gas tank with a flush-mounted fuel cap.   Things get even better inside, where a pair of late-model bucket seats (out of a Dodge Dakota) wrapped in custom leather hides and a custom center console take the place of the original bench this truck was likely born with. There's more of that, soft tan leather on the flanking door panels and intricately wrapped custom dash, and even the kick panels were upholstered for a finished look. Plush black carpets contrast the light hides perfectly and were a practical addition to keep things looking clean inside, while the tan headliner continues behind the seats, wrapping the entire cabin in upscale leather. The dash was completely reworked and punctuated with gorgeous woodgrain trim that also adorns the center console, dash grab bar, and the rim of the sporty tilt steering wheel at the helm of the cockpit. Beyond that wheel is a full complement of AutoMeter dials that keep an eye on the engine, along with a row of accessory dials/switches, and controls for the Vintage Air A/C system. That aforementioned dash houses A/C vents, cup holders, and a Lokar-style shifter that manages the 700R4 automatic below. LED interior lighting, seatbelts, a billet tilt steering column, power windows, and remote door poppers round out the options list, and even the pedal were upgraded to super-cool aftermarket units. Nothing was overlooked inside, and the result is an awesome cabin you're going to want to spend a ton of time in.    The engine is a powerful GM Performance Parts 350 Ram Jet V8 crate motor that's been barely broken in since it was purchased for $7k directly from a GM dealer, and it performs beautifully in this truck with plenty of horsepower and torque on tap whenever needed. Additions include electronic fuel injection, a performance cold-air intake, long-tube headers, a March serpentine belt system, a big aluminum radiator and electric fan, and, of course, the polished valve covers, bright accessories, and steel-braided lines that all help add nice pop to the satin-black engine bay. Backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with an 1*number in the description* stall torque convertor and a 10-bolt rear with cruiser-friendly gears inside, it's a superlative highway runner that's still punchy around town. Up front there's an independent suspension with upgraded shocks, coils, and power rack-and-pinion steering, there's a set of heavy-duty air shocks out back, and with power front disc brakes with drilled-and-slotted rotors the truck stops on a dime. A custom X-pipe dual exhaust system with throaty QuickTime Performance mufflers and electric cut-outs sounds downright erotic, and the entire undercarriage is very nicely presented with new components found throughout. That lowered stance is just about perfect, with a lot of the credit going to the chrome US Mags and fender-filling BFGoodrich rubber around them. This 1955 Chevrolet Cameo is a rare and stylish pickup.  And while we love the history, this one was fully restored to give you big block power, a more vibrant style, an overdrive transmission, and a comfy A/C interior. It makes for the classic stunner that's easy to show off everywhere.  Today we all want a premium pickup, but this market was only just emerging in the 1950s.  Chevrolet recognized this and launched the Cameo Carrier in 1955.  The flush-fitting bed and revised tailgate were created by utilizing the fiberglass knowledge from the Corvette line.  It had full sweeping trim with an integrated hint of two-tone color around the big back window, and there's a tailfin design to make this as attractive as the '55 Bel Air. We're particularly fond of the way the paint is done on this one.  It's the correct white color and there's a creamy smoothness thanks to the deleted badge, a custom grille, and a color-matched front bumper.  The hint of red wrapping around the rear has a nice metallic radiance, and so the matching bed walls (a signature Cameo feature) look almost like they're glowing.  Beautiful real wood in the truck bed, shining 20-inch alloys, and a '57 hood are all part of the impressive touches that make this Cameo even more distinct.  The wraparound rear glass lets in plenty more light to show off this truck's full custom interior. It's quite attractive where the white and red two-tone from the exterior continues with an intricate intertwining on the dash, doors, carpet, and headliner.  And it takes to heart the idea that the Cameo was built to be a more comfortable pickup - including an armrest center console, cup holders, an AM/FM/CD stereo, and cold-blowing air conditioning.  And this is certainly an upgraded driver with modern bucket seats that power adjust, a tilt steering column, and a full set of Classic Instruments readouts with tach.  The show-ready style of this truck continues under the hood.  The dark inner walls of the engine bay show off cool old-school details like the hot rod air grabber and the unique valve covers that signal this was the first of the Chevy big blocks.  This 348 cubic-inch V8  includes upgrades like an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and an updated aluminum radiator.  It's a strong powerhouse that makes a sweet tune out of the side-exit dual exhaust. And when you really want some extra rumble, there are electric cutouts ahead of the mufflers. This 1955 Chevrolet 3100 pickup is one of those builds where you can see the attention to detail in every single component. Not merely assembled, but rather built with an eye towards making even the little stuff look right, it's gorgeous to look at and wonderful to drive. Combined with a great color and interior choice, it makes for a slick resto-mod hauler that can take home trophies or cruise cross-country equally well.  This truck goes way beyond simple hauler, and even back in the '50s, Chevy revolutionized the industry with the crazy idea that workmen wanted attractive vehicles, too. So, while a lot of them got worked right into the ground, this handsome 'Task Force' pickup received a no-holds-barred rejuvenation that includes a few skillfully shaved bits and a lot of hand work that made it extra smooth and super shiny. Fit and finish is great overall, and the high-impact Yellow paint was recently completed (only 1,499 miles on this build) and is perfect for the 1950s vibe. All the emblems, door handles, hinges, mirrors, and brightwork were shaved, and a super-shiny grille was fitted up front, and who can argue with how cool it looks? Smooth chrome bumpers fore and aft are the perfect endcaps to this truck's searing yellow curb appeal, and the chrome trim around the crystal-clear headlights and turn signals adds just enough flash, while out back custom 'rocket-style' taillights were stacked and frenched into the rear quarters for a very trick look. Out back, the bed was fully rebuilt with fresh wood, polished stainless rub rails, and a cool built-in battery tray â making everything so darn nice back there you'll think twice before you load up anything dirty from Home Depot . Add in those uber-cool CHEVROLET block letters on the tailgate and those fat tires stuffed under the stepside bed, and you have a truck that creates a stir everywhere it goes.  With the original truck sporting vinyl and rubber and steel interior materials, the makeover in this Second Series beauty gives it a much softer, friendlier demeanor. A reshaped and very comfortable bench seat has been wrapped in custom foam and smooth white leather upholstery, which uses a period pleated pattern to replicate a 1950s vibe and even includes a built-in arm rest for the driver. Durable black carpets look great and help control noise and heat and the two-tone steel door panels are properly finished to match the color scheme. The dashboard, even when it was stock, was striking in a pickup truck and has now been smoothed and refined, with the original gauge cluster replaced by a trick billet set-up stuffed with elegant Classic Instruments gauges. You'll also not custom tricks like those insanely cool A/C vents inside the dash that will blow ice-cold R134a treated air throughout the spacious cabin (as soon as the system is serviced), and the slick, leather-wrapped LeCarra steering wheel mounted atop a polished tilt column that also features modern stalks. A matching headliner was inserted above, and heavy-duty floormats protect the newer carpets below. As you can see, no detail was left to chance.  The engine powering this beast is a later-model 400 cubic inch V8, making plenty of horsepower and torque that give this 3100 a whole new dynamic out on the road. From the shaved and smoothed firewall to the fully finished inner fenders, the yellow engine bay was obviously built for show, and everything was either painted, polished, or plated before it was installed. Wiring and plumbing has been neatly hidden from view, a serpentine belt system runs the accessories, and there's a big aluminum radiator up front to keep things cool. The block itself was painted yellow to match, and it comes topped with a big Edelbrock 4-barrel and performance intake, sparks to life thank to an HEI ignition, and breathes easy through a set of long-tube headers that feed a paint of throaty chambered mufflers underneath. Backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a Chevelle 10-bolt rear with manageable gears inside, making it a superlative highway cruiser. Up front there's an upgraded front clip with a big sway bar, power disc brakes, and power steering, while out back the rear features coilovers and a 4-link set-up that plants the truck to the ground and helps set that killer stance. Speaking of that stance, it's just about perfect in our humble opinion, with a lot of the credit going to the polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels and 215/60/17 front and 255/60/17 rear radials.  Beautifully built and packed with lots of goodies, this dialed-in 1955 Task Force pickup is a head-turner that's just beginning its reign of dominance.
