Please email  or call 1-*number in the description*  About the Chevelle:  The Chevrolet Chevelle is a mid-sized automobile that was produced by Chevrolet in three generations for the 1964 through 1978 model years. Part of the General Motors (GM) A-body platform, the Chevelle was one of Chevrolet's most successful nameplates.  Ford released the mid-sized Fairlane in 1963, to which Chevrolet responded with the 1964 Chevelle based on a new A platform design. Riding on a 115-inch wheelbase, the new Chevelle was similar in size, simplicity, and concept to the standard-sized 1*number in the description* Chevrolet models. The Chevelle was the U.S. auto industry's only all-new car for 1964 and was positioned to fill the gap between the small Chevy II and the full-sized Chevrolet models. Introduced in August 1963 by "Bunkie" Knudsen, the Chevelle filled the gap for Chevrolet with sales of 338,286 for the year.  Originally conceived as an upsizing of the Chevy II with a unibody platform which originated with the XP-726 program, GM's "senior compact" A-platform used a body-on-frame construction using a suspension setup similar to its full sized automobiles with a 4 link rear suspension.  The Chevelle Super Sport, or SS represented Chevrolet's entry into the muscle car battle. Early 1964 and 1965 Chevelles had a Malibu SS badge on the rear quarter panel.  The Chevelle SS396 became a series of its own in 1966 with series/style numbers 13817 and 13867. The performance engines available included three, 396 CID V8s â the standard, rated at 325 HP, an optional 360 HP, and an optional 375 HP. The SS396 series lasted from 1966 through 1968 before being relegated to an option package in 1969. The 1966 and 1967 model years were the only two years of the 'strut back' 2-door sport coupe with its own style number.  1966 saw a complete restyle of the Chevelle on the previous frame that included smooth contours, a broad new grille and bumper treatment, and curved side windows. Bulging rear fender lines and a "flying buttress" roofline tunneled into the "C" pillar were highlights of the '66 hardtops. The new body reflected the "Coke bottle" body shape that became the fad for American cars in the mid-1960s.  The 1967 models received a facelift. Large wraparound taillamps went into a new rear end with standard backup lights. "What you'll see inside," claimed the sales brochure for the 1967 Chevelle, "will probably bring on a severe compulsion to go driving." Front disc brakes were available on all models, and a new dual master cylinder brake system incorporated a warning light. Chevrolet also added 14" wheels and a three speed automatic transmission to their line of transmissions. New safety equipment became standard, including a collapsible steering column. The SS396 continued as its own series with both sport coupe and convertible body styles. The 375-horsepower 396-cubic-inch V8 was dropped from the options list until late in the model year and returned with 612 being sold. Seven transmissions were available: two manual three-speeds, two manual four-speeds, an overdrive three-speed, and two automatics. The manual-shift feature of the Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission was featured. Options included Superlift air shock absorbers, Strato-ease headrests, and special instrumentation. *1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Sport Coupe*In the world of muscle cars, there are some terms that even casual enthusiasts know. Hemi in the MOPAR world, the Ford Cammer, and of course, the Chevrolet SS 396. In 1967, this was one of the highest performance trim levels you could order from the factory for a Chevrolet passenger car and remains quite sought after to this day.This 1967 Chevelle SS 396 is a true SS with a real 138-VIN number, and the block is numbers matching as well. Finished in a stunning shade of Tahoe Turquoise with a black vinyl roof, this is a great driver plus quality car, with records to show its pedigree. The 1967 Chevelle features a sleek, long flat design, but with beautiful chrome work on the bumpers, window trims and side mouldings, it is one of the most classically beautiful shapes that Chevrolet ever came up with for a mid-size coupe in the company's history. This car is in very good condition throughout and sits on a set of 15-inch chrome American Racing wheels with white letter BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.The Interior is classic 1960s GM and features a pair of bucket seats up front with a console between them, and a bench seat in the rear. Slide into the driver's seat and you are met by a Corvette-style 3-spoke steering wheel with a brushed aluminum center and black rim, and the dashboard is finished in brushed silver as well. In the center console sits a T-handle shifter and a very sporty looking clock, angled back towards the front seat passengers. This example has been upgraded with a Vintage Air A/C system and modern audio.Sitting under the hood is that famous 396 ci V8 from Chevrolet with numbers matching stampings on the block. Rated from the factory at 325 horsepower, this engine breathes through a dual exhaust system and sends power to the 12-bolt rear end via a TH400 automatic gearbox. The rear suspension has been upgraded with a 4-link setup that improves handling and ride comfort, and a rear sway bar goes to further tighten up the car's handling.This SS396 is one of the more desirable variants of the 1967 Chevelle and this example features a Protect-o-Plate which shows that not only is the engine numbers matching, but the colors and options are correct too.
