First class mechanics

With a weight of only 830 kg, a length of 3.90 m and a width of 1.55 m, the BMW 328 is a light and compact roadster with racing car genes. In 1939, Fritz Huschke von Hahnstein and Walter Bäumer won the Mille Miglia on a BMW 328; at an average speed of over 166 km/h!

Technically, the 328 was based on the BMW 319, from which the chassis and the suspension originated. The engine and brakes were supplied by the BMW 326, with the machine achieving almost twice the power in the 328 thanks to a modified cylinder head and triple carburettor.

Also in the post-war period, the BMW 328 enjoyed great popularity in motorsport. On the one hand, the 2-litre engine was virtually the only competitive engine still available in sufficient numbers, and on the other hand it fitted into the regulations of the newly founded Formula 2.

With only 464 units built, the BMW 328 is today one of the most sought-after vehicles of the Bavarian brand.

Our vehicle comes from a high-quality collection where it spent the last 10 years.

Previously, the car was rebuilt by a German pre-war specialist, using original parts wherever possible.

We have an old vehicle registration document from the 60s, as well as the BMW certificate. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee with absolute certainty that this chassis number does not exist again.

The original gearbox is present, but was replaced by a Volvo gearbox to improve the driving characteristics.

In 2012 the engine was completely disassembled and overhauled by a renowned address. Invoice and pictures are available. The car runs first class!

The BMW has proven to be an extremely reliable and powerful car at several rallies in recent years, including the Gaisberg Race.
