The wait for the release of the Mercedes-AMG GT R for sale has been a highly anticipated one for fans of the Mercedes brand. While the official specs are still under wraps, it is expected to retain the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine as others in the GT R family. The difference will be the level of power that is finessed out of the engine. The GT R Black Series model is expected to generate around 700 ponies, which places it in direct competition with the likes of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS and the McLaren 720S. An official representative from Mercedes-AMG also recently revealed that this will be the fastest accelerating model yet! It is also important to note that this will be the first AMG model to receive the Black Series badge since 2013. An official price has not been released, although it will have a price tag greater than that of the GT R, which starts at just under $160,000. As far as the exterior, testing at Nurburgring has shown that we can expect to see improved aerodynamic components, a new exhaust system, large rear wing and an all-around more encroaching appearance. Other alterations expected are the inclusion of rear-wheel drive versus the former all-wheel drive and an upgraded suspension.
