The expression, “You can’t have your cake and eat it, too,” was all too well known to coupe drivers who long accepted sacrificing performance and power for the resilience of a two-door daily driver. But Mercedes-AMG—a brand known for pushing the envelope of automotive design and function—begged the question, “Why not have both?” The answer debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March as the new 2017 Mercedes- AMG C43 for sale. Joining the ranks of the AMG family, the car sits between its two sibling models, the C300 and the C63. Perfectly suited for a seat in the middle, this new coupe is something only Mercedes-AMG could pull off. A seamless blend of the high-powered dynamics of an AMG with the comforts of an everyday car, the Coupe was developed with a “scintillating engineering package,” according to the German automaker. The 3.0-liter, V6 biturbo engine is part of the Blue DIRECT engine line from Mercedes-Benz, which launches the car to 60 mph from a standstill in just 4.6 seconds. With 384 lb-ft of torque and a limited speed of 155 mph, the Coupe is anything but ordinary.

One glimpse at the 2019 Mercedes-AMG C43 and it is apparent that the sports car has undergone a major facelift. The C43 retains its signature angular coupe style in the rear, but has a revised bumper with added flics in the front and back. The bolder front end still boasts the signature AMG radiator grille but is surrounded by all new LED headlights. Available as a coupe or a sedan, each version is designed to be more aerodynamic than previous renditions. To reduce drag, the side curtains have been revised to redirect the airflow. Buyers can also opt for an additional, more aggressive style package which incorporates a front splitter, spoiler lip and larger side skirts. Other new features to the exterior include redesigned wheels which also incorporate aerodynamic components. The cockpit remains as luxurious as ever with a similar layout that adds leather, carbon fiber and aluminum along with wood trim, a black headliner and red seatbelts. As for functional upgrades, the interior showcases touch-sensitive controls, a 12.3-inch gauge cluster, energizing comfort control, a brand new AMG steering wheel and performance seats lined with Nappa leather. To ensure the safety of drivers, the Mercedes-AMG C43 also includes driving assistance systems and a vehicle and communications system. Perhaps the most satisfying alteration, however, is the upgraded 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine which consumes less fuel and produces more power with a maximum output of 390 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque.
