Rare 1973 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Convertible. Special Purpose Vehicle built and used for marketing this Cougar model for Mercury.  Original owner was the Ford Marketing Corporation.  Even more rare because of the Medium Aqua Blue 'Code #5137A' exterior paint. White Leather interior with White power convertible top. One of only 87 produced in this trim  paint Combination for 1973. Powered by the Q-Code 351 Cleveland V-8 4bbl engine coupled with the C-6 3-Speed Automatic Transmission. One of only 372 Cougars produced with this engine and transmission combo in 1973.  Extremely well equipped. Factory air conditioning, power windows. Power steering, power front disc brakes. Leather seats with 4-Way power drivers seat. Delay wipers, tilt wheel, AM-8Track stereo. Sports Console with clock.  Rear differential is a 3.25 Ratio Traction-Lok.  Framed Deluxe Marti Report and Window Sticker. Actual 67,000 mile car.

When paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, this bigger engine produced a respectable 215 horsepower. Style, too, moved forward with the coming of the new model year, with the addition of new color combinations and sweeping trim that defined the car's flanks. The Big M Mercury emblem now adorned the nose, just below the aerospace-inspired chrome hood ornament. rnrnThis Montclair Convertible, one of 7,762 produced for 1956, wears an attractive two-tone white and light blue exterior over a complementary two-tone interior; the convertible top is white, and it stows beneath a light blue top boot when retracted. Rear wheel skirts and a rear continental kit complete this Mercury's classic boulevard cruiser look. Inside, the nicely detailed cabin features an AM radio and clock; the deeply dished steering wheel-part of the Ford Motor Company's new-for-1956 Lifeguard suite of safety features-sits in front of an eye-catching instrument cluster with a horizontal speedometer. The production figures listed in this Cougar Eliminator’s Marti Report indicate that it is the only one that Mercury built in 1970 with its unique combination of speed equipment and optional accessories. While there were more than 70,000 Cougars built in the 1970 model year, just 2,268 of them were the hot Eliminator models. The Cougar Eliminators were cats apart from the rest with their bold hood and fender stripes, a hood scoop, front and rear spoilers and three high-performance engine options.
 
 
This Competition Blue Eliminator has the rarest of the three V-8s—the 428 Cobra Jet, which had power ratings of 335 HP and 450 lb-ft of torque. The car’s Drag Pak option—consisting of a beefed-up bottom end, external oil cooler and 3.91 gears in the Traction-Lok rear end—not only upgraded the Cobra Jet to Super Cobra Jet status, but also made this Cougar rarer still as one of 127 built. Cougar Club Eliminator Registrar David Wyras said this car is one of five that combined the Drag Pak option and a C6 automatic transmission (“Select-Shift” in Mercury speak). Collectors take note: the Cougar’s driveline, from the matching-numbers 428 SCJ to the nodular rear end, is factory-original equipment.
 
 
All Cougar Eliminators with the 428 CJ were equipped with Mercury’s Competition Handling Package, which included firmer springs and shocks, as well as a larger front sway bar. Also ordered for this car were the optional power front disc/rear drum brakes and power steering. F70-14 tires were standard equipment; on this Cougar, they are mounted on Mercury’s optional styled-steel wheels. The Cougar’s interior includes blue vinyl high-back bucket seats and a console surrounding the C6’s floor shifter. An earlier restoration by Cougar Specialist KTL Restorations retained the car’s original sheet metal, and, more recently, the car went to Marcus Anghel of Anghel Restorations of Scottsdale, Arizona, for the addition of NOS components and freshening to make this car as factory-correct as it can be.

*1946 Mercury 69M âWoodieâ Station Wagon*Â There are few more quintessentially classic American cars than a classic woodie wagon and without a doubt, the wood paneled vehicles produced by Ford and Mercury in the late-1930s and mid-1940s are some of the best. The Mercury 69M was based on the second generation Mercury Eight chassis of cars that debuted in 1941, but saw production pause during World War II, before being brought back for model years 1*number in the description*. These cars shared a body shell with the lower-end Ford Super DeLuxe, but were equipped with a longer wheelbase and a heavily refined chassis. Offered as a coupe, sedan, convertible and station wagon, the Mercury Woodie Wagon took the spot as the most expensive vehicle in the range, with just 2,797 produced in 1946.Â Â This Mercury 69M Woodie Wagon is without a doubt, one of the best examples available anywhere. Subject to a meticulous restoration by marque experts, it is near impossible to find fault with this example and would be the crown jewel of any collection. When you walk up to this wagon, the first thing you are taken by is the stunning contrast between the deep black paint and the flawless wood paneling around the vehicle. When paired with swathes of immaculate chrome trim on the fenders, bumpers and hubcaps, it is no wonder that this car took home a Best in Class trophy from the Kirkland Concours when it was exhibited there.Â Â One of the things that is such a treat about driving around in a woodie is that not only do the people outside the car get to enjoy it, but the majority of the cabin is made up of wood as well. In this Mercury, all three rows of seats are surrounded by two-tone wood trim that carries through from the doors, onto the dashboard and the intricately ribbed wood that runs the length of the roof. This woodwork is all paired with deep burgundy vinyl seating and absolutely perfect bakelite and aluminum trim on the dashboard and steering wheel.Â Â Open the hood and you are greeted by a 239 ci Flathead V8 engine that is rated at 100 horsepower and 180 lb ft of torque which is plenty to move this wagon down the road. This engine is backed up by a 3-speed column shift manual gearbox that shifts smoothly and makes for a fun, authentic driving experience. Itâs no surprise when you look at the mechanicals that this car is a show winner- the engine bay is positively immaculate and this continues under the car which has been finished to as high of a degree as the top of the car. If you want to buy a car that needs nothing before hitting the show circuit, look no further.Â Â What is so appealing about this woodie is that, regardless of whether you want to start taking it to shows, or would prefer to just drive it around at your lake house, it needs absolutely nothing to fulfill the role. Due to the way wood wears, many of these stunning cars didnât stand the test of time and out of the original 2,797, it stands to reason the number still in existence is a mere fraction of that figure.
