After a continuous run of 67 years, production finally ended on 29 January 2016 when the last Land Rover Defender rolled off the production line.  The coil sprung Land Rover was introduced in 1983 as "Land Rover Ninety" the number representing the wheelbase in inches. The number was spelled in full in advertising and in handbooks and manuals, and the vehicles also carried badges above the radiator grille which read "Land Rover 90" or "Land Rover 110", with the number rendered numerically. The Ninety and One Ten replaced the earlier Land Rover Series.  Superficially there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes. While the engine and other body panels carried over from the Series III, mechanically the 90 was modernized, including:  - Coil springs, offering a more comfortable ride and improved axle articulation - A permanent four-wheel-drive system derived from the Range Rover, featuring a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable center differential - A modernized interior - A taller one-piece windscreen - A new series of progressively more powerful and modern engines  From 1984, wind-up windows were fitted as Series models and very early 110s had sliding panels, and a 2.5-liter, 68 horsepower diesel engine was introduced. This stunning AA Yellow 1995 Defender 90 NAS (North American Specification) has been subjected to a fastidious restoration and is reflecting less than 650 miles since completion.   Come take this beauty for a test drive today! Land Rover supplied the Defender 90 NAS to North America for just three years, (1994, 1995 and 1997) in very low volumes.  This example is number 2,413 produced and is powered by the venerable 3.9L naturally aspirated V8 engine sourced from the Rover Group and paired it with the 5-speed R-380 manual transmission.  Initially, the Defender 90 was only available as a soft-top with a structural roll cage, but a later version was offered with a unique, removable, fiber-glass roof...this example is one which was supplied with this removable hardtop roof, (whilst still retaining the structural roll cage).This stunning example underwent a complete and professional restoration prior to our purchase in early-2021 to a very high level of attention to detail throughout. Almost everything has been replaced or refinished, including new paint and a new drive train, which includes a 3.9-liter 8-cylinder replacement factory engine, rebuilt original heads, new 5-speed manual transmission and a new transfer case. The radiator has been re-cored with an air conditioning system overhaul, including new hoses, compressor, condenser and blower. Custom thermal wrap covers the new intake hose and thermal sleeves cover the spark plugs. The new suspension includes 2-inch Terrafirma shocks, springs, steering stabilizer, BFGoodrich AT tires and new steel braided brake lines. The under body has been sprayed, headers and exhaust system have been painted, and the differentials, suspension and brake components refinished. The engine compartment has been customized with premium loom covering all wires and hoses, hood insulation pad and a custom polished radiator overflow reservoir. The interior has been redone to present as new and includes Dynamat insulation, new Exmoor Trim carpeting and mats, Land Rover rubber floor mats, Rovers North door panels and new shift boots. All gauges, knobs, steering column switches, rearview mirror, various pieces of dash (dash top, lower dash finishing trim) have also been replaced with new components and the dash recess was repainted. The original cubby was replaced with a larger, lockable metal cubby. The exterior features many custom details. Flat black textured paint has been applied to the roll bar, brush bar, running boards, fender flares, metal plate body protection, headlight surrounds and LED running light/turn signal bases. The headlights have been replaced with premium LED units, and all door hinges have been painted flat black to match the trim. The windshield and door seals are new as well.Galpin Land Rover has continued all maintenance whilst being a show car in our new showroom.PLEASE NOTE  Due to the odometer being replaced during the restoration process, this vehicle is being offered for sale with True Mileage Unknown.

*1995 Land Rover Defender 90*Â Although these days, Land Rover is known for building luxurious, off road capable vehicles, that hasnât always been the case. The off road aspect has always been a key feature of the brand, but for the first decades, luxury took a back seat to practicality and dependability. The Defender which debuted in 1984, was really a refined version of the âSeriesâ trucks that the brand had built its name on since 1948. With some additional luxuries, the Defender was just as at home navigating a dirt track on the farm, as it was taking the family out to dinner in town.Â This 1995 Land Rover Defender 90 wagon is an original left hand drive European market example with a hard top. Finished in Graphite Blue with a white roof, this car underwent a thorough sorting by marque experts Brooklyn Coachworks in Brooklyn New York in the Summer of 2021, where it was acquired by the owner. Where most Defender upfitters add a suspension lift and enormous tires, Brooklyn Coachworks focuses instead on refining a standard Defender â making it more dependable and enjoyable, while still offering some level of customization. The process includes hot-dip galvanizing the chassis, using zinc coatings on the undercarriage, swapping the doors for stronger Land Rover Puma TD4 units and replacing all of the seals around the vehicle. The color of the body, roof and wheels are all customer selected and this car sits on a set of color-matched 15-inch Wolf steel wheels, which are wrapped in BFGoodrich T/A KM3 tires with a matching spare on the rear door.Â The interior has been upgraded with black leather wrapped seats â with both the front two bucket seats, and both rear inward facing benches â finished in black leather with quilted stitching. The dashboard remains standard, just leather wrapped and the original steering wheel is still in place, framing the simple white-on-black gauge cluster. A Kenwood head unit has been fitted with Bluetooth connectivity as well as dual auxiliary USB connections to keep your devices charged.Â Powering this Land Rover is one of the most sought after engines to come in the Defender from the factory - the 300TDi turbo diesel inline 4. This engine became notorious in period for its stout build quality and stump pulling power and was one of the first diesels from Land Rover that is easily able to cruise with modern traffic. Power is then sent through a 5-speed manual gearbox to all four wheels with a locking center differential. To ensure the car is easy to drive in town, power disc brakes and power steering are fitted. Recently, the car was sent to Defenders NW in Gig Harbor who completed a thorough servicing that included a new fuel injection pump, new belts and a new timing cover gasket to guarantee this truck runs at its best for years to come.Â With the ever increasing popularity of classic off-road vehicles, the Defender sits atop the rest as one of the most capable and iconic vehicles ever built in the segment. *1990 Land Rover Defender 90 V8*Â In 1983 Land Rover debuted their new Defender, based on the earlier âSeriesâ Land Rovers, it was their updated answer to the Willys Jeep based trucks they had been building since the 1940s but with more of an eye to creature comforts. This was no small task as it also needed to maintain the serious off road credentials that Land Rover had become so well known for. With the introduction of items such as coil springs, an updated interior, progressively more powerful engines and in 1984, roll up windows, the Defender became the automatic choice for outdoor adventurers and English farmers alike.Â This 1990 Land Rover Defender 90 is a particularly special example because, unlike most Defenders of the early 1990s which were powered by low-displacement diesel engines, this came from the factory with a gasoline powered V8. Sold new in England, this Land Rover was imported by the consignor in April of 2024 via MotoDrome - a well known classic car dealership in England. Finished in White Diamond, this Defender was optioned from the factory with the Country Pack which fits the truck with color matched wheel arches, a front brush bar, sunroof, a rear cargo partition and Land Rover branded mud flaps. The 16-inch standard wheels are painted white to match the truckâs exterior, and Michelin Agilis CrossClimate tires are fitted at all four corners.Â The interior is exactly what you would expect from a Land Rover - spartan but well laid out, with the seats wrapped in gray cloth and the floors covered in rubber mats. Climb into the right hand driverâs seat and you are met by a large 4-spoke steering wheel that frames a simple gauge cluster with four white-on-black gauges. An updated Pioneer head unit is fitted in the dash between the two front seats with USB capabilities. A new center console has been fitted between the front seats with a storage compartment and a pair of cup holders. In total, this Land Rover has seating for six with two passengers up front, and four center-facing jump seats in the rear that can fold up when not in use. This style of seat is a Defender signature and is improved in this example with the Alpine windows in the roof that give the rear cabin area an extra spacious feel.Â Sitting under the hood is a 3.5-liter gasoline powered Rover V8. This engine should be familiar to any Land Rover fan, as it was used in the âNASâ Defenders, as well as the Discovery and Range Rovers of the same era. With a design based on a Buick V8 from the 1960s, this motor is renowned for its simplicity and light weight thanks to its largely aluminum design. In this truck, the engine is topped by a pair of SU carburetors which are fitted with cone air filters and are likely far simpler to deal with than some of the early fuel injection offered by Land Rover. This engine sends power through a 5-speed manual gearbox and dual-range transfer case to all four wheels. Before being imported, this car received a service that included new coolant, a fresh oil service, bulb replacement all around and a set of rear shock absorbers.Â Something that is really special about this Defender 90 is that, unlike many other examples that have been imported, it remains almost entirely stock. So often, these cars are modified to suit the new ownerâs taste with extravagant leather interiors, bigger wheels and more powerful engines. But this ultimately divorces the Defender 90 from what it was designed to be - a real, no-nonsense work truck that is rugged and dependable and does everything you ask of it. Back in 1983 two old friends and travelling buddies met and found a common bond with a love of Land Rover Defenders while travelling through Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. They worked in Zambia in the 80's at numerous safari camps and wildlife reserves. Accessing some of Africa's remotest areas it was here that they found out how capable and tough these trucks were. While working in the Middle East, they followed the pursuit of 4Ã4 backcountry adventures. They even spent some time in the Northern Territory of Australia, exclusively using Defenders to access the Outback. Maintaining some of the most hardest to get to tracks and dirt roads, the conditions were brutal and these trucks brushed off everything that was thrown at them with ease. The 2 friends joined forces to create the Transatlantic Trading Company (TATC) to share their passion and to build the best Land Rover Defenders possible in the US. TATC draws upon their combined experience, coupled with over 70 years of Land Rover heritage. The TATC team lovingly restores some of the very best iconic Defenders available. The mission at TATC is to build these trucks better than they were when they first left the factory, and most importantly to last the next 25 years and to pass on to the next generation.
