Mercedes-Benz AMG SL63 is one of the best equipped and most powerful cars from Mercedes. It’s still a compelling option for the people who need barnstorming performance and sublime comfort. It’s easy to find used Mercedes SL63 AMG for sale, but actually purchasing is yet another story because it’s not a cheap car. Here is the complete timeline of the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG lineup with features and specs

2008 – 2011: Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG (R230) - In 2008, the supercharged 5.4-liter V8 engine was replaced with the bigger and more powerful 6.2-liter V8 one. It came out with the AMG SL63, which was a spectacular example of power. It featured a torque of 465 pound-feet with an engine power of 525 hp, which are very impressive numbers. Moreover, the dual-clutch seven-speed AMG automatic speed shift allowed the car to reach 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 4.6 seconds.

The braking system that was put together in Mercedes-Benz SL63 matched its engine performance. The rear wheels came with four-piston fixed calipers and internally ventilated, perforated 330 x 26mm brake discs. On the other hand, the front wheels came with six-piston aluminum calipers and internally ventilated, perforated 360 x 36mm composite disc brakes.

The exterior of the car had a brand-new front grille design with a three-star badge and a horizontal chromed line in the middle. The vehicle also featured Vario Roof (retractable hardtop). The standard specification of the car also includes AMG sports seats, carbon-fiber trim, and Nappa upholstery. You can find a Mercedes SL63 convertible in top-notch condition with these features that also have NTG 2.5 telematics entertainment system. The company continued manufacturing Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG (R230) for about three years until its next-generation arrived.

2012 – 2016: Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG (R231)- The Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG 2012 model was the very first one that came with the new front fascia. It had a couple of blades of the grille with completely redesigned headlights that provided this car with an aggressive look. The vent on the sides, behind the vehicle’s front wheels, featured a V8 chromed Biturbo badge. Moreover, at the back of the trunk lid of the vehicle, a small lip-spoiler was also mounted to add more value to its bold character.

It came with a 5.5-liter 7-speed AMG automatic speed shift with a V8 engine with the power of 537 hp at 5500 RPM and a torque of 590 pound-feet. There was also another variant of this model that came with 564 hp of engine power. The 2012 model of Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG remained in production for about four years

.

2016 – Present: Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG (R231)- When the sixth-generation facelift was introduced by Mercedes, a new SL63 AMG was launched back in 2016. It featured a more aggressive design and upgraded technology. It came with a 5.5-liter 7-speed AMG automatic speed shift with the V8 engine. Additionally, the improved engine power of 585 hp at 5500 RPM and the torque of 664 pound-feet was enough to reach the speed of 0 – 60 miles per hour in only 4.1 seconds. Moreover, it had a top speed of 155 miles per hour.

The front of the 2012 AMG SL63 had an A-wing spoiler and, towards the bottom, broadening out a new radiator grille. It also features new rims, reshaped bumpers, redesigned brake lights and headlights, and more. Based on a standard differential lock (New AMG Speedshift MCT), 7-speed automatic gearbox, high-quality and performance composite brakes, active body control-based sports suspension, the car offers better control and more power. You can find the R231 model of used Mercedes SL63 AMG for sale that’s still in production.
