One of Eight 1965 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Touring Limousine by James YoungChassis LCDL81 is one of 8 left-drive Long Wheelbase Cloud IIIs fitted with James Young's superb Touring Limousine Coachwork, known by its design number "SCT100." Sometimes referred to as the "Baby Phantom" for its resemblance to the James Young bodied Phantom V, it is a masterclass of proportion and elegance. The SCT100 is a beautiful design, notable for its "turtleback" semi-fastback boot and sweeping fender lines. According to notes in Lawrence Dalton's book Rolls Royce: The Elegance Continues, chassis LCDL81 was displayed at the 1964 Paris Salon and has several fascinating details. Notable features of this car include a division window, integrated rear footrests, a spectacular wood rear fascia housing tray tables, a spare fuel gauge (curiously), and ventilation controls. Of particular interest is the rear sunroof panel, which slides forward over the driver's compartment and affords rear passengers a dose of fresh air and sunshine. Should the weather be less than ideal, it is equipped with air conditioning with integrated, upholstered outlets in the rear C-pillars.Finished in two-tone burgundy over black with beige leather upholstery, this Cloud III is offered in very good condition overall, having come from an extensive collection of Rolls-Royce and Bentley automobiles. Mechanically strong, it runs and drives wonderfully. As one of only eight left-drive SCT100 Cloud IIIs extant, it is undoubtedly a highly collectible and significant motorcar. This is a very elegant, low-production Silver Cloud III beautifully representing the elegant and classic Rolls-Royce Motor Car with custom coachwork by James Young.Chassis no. 1963 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER CLOUD III LONG WHEELBASE JAMES YOUNG DESIGN SCT100 Baby Phantom Alloy Bodied Touring Saloon  #LCAL17 The second of only 7 left drives built to this configuration from 1*number in the description*, only two of which were supplied with individual front seating rather than divider partitions. HISTORY: The very comprehensive factory  coachbuilder records show William Harrah as the first owner.  Mr. Harrah was a pioneer automobile enthusiast who established a fantastic 3,000+ car museum at his hotel  casino facility in Reno, Nevada.  He also owned Modern Classic Motors, the Rolls-Royce  Ferrari distributorship for that area of the US. LCAL17 was delivered to Mr. Harrah on 7 November, 1962 finished in two shades of Grey with Blue-Grey Cord broadcloth (rather than leather) interior.   It was part of Mr. Harrah's legendary stable of Rolls-Royces until its resale a few years later to a well-known celebrity entertainer  personal friend of his (name upon request) who reportedly admired the color layout used for 5LVF129, a 6,500+ mile 1967 James Young PV16 Formal Limousine displayed in the museum.  This car was refinished to his order in the same Mercer Brown TN927 lacquer with VM859 Chestnut Connolly hides.This never damaged specimen remained in his collection until late 2013 when it was purchased through an agent by ourselves  supplied to its third careful owner after we carefully prepared it to show standards per the request of that gentleman, a long-time client and friend of ours. The odometer reading at that time was 96,369. Traded back to us against a James Young PV23 Touring Limousine, it has traveled only 861 miles since.  The dated Mercer Brown exterior has been freshly re-lacquered in Antelope over Garnet, an especially elegant color layout of the era.   The effectiveness of the original limousine specification air conditioning  engine cooling systems have since been dramatically increased by ourselves utilizing more modern technology. The Walnut Burl veneers since refinished at our facility are of a particularly beautiful pattern.The Blaupunkt AM-FM radio  glovebox door mounted altimeter shown were part of the original specification. This spectacular performer is by far the finest (and perhaps the only) left drive SCT100 available anywhere in the world.  We have thoroughly reviewed and serviced and this delightful performer for the enjoyment of its next owner.    *** RECENT PRICE ADJUSTMENT ***

Delivered July 1962 and subsequently sold to the director of the original Superman movie, Richard Donner.  It was converted to left drive in the UK for him before delivery to Los Angeles, California where it was expertly looked after by the most highly regarded marque specialists in that area until Mr. Donners demise. At that time it was acquired from his estate along with its extensiveservice pedigree by our company on December 9, 2021. Though it was in straight, undamaged and uncorroded order, out of respect for Its pedigree and importance as the first of its kind, we elected to bring its mechanical and cosmetic order to its present superb condition.  We believe this to be the finest of necessarily few genuine Silver Cloud III H.J. Mulliner Convertibles available anywhere in the world.

Finished originally delivered in Dawn Blue lacquer with Blue-Grey Connolly hides this very late last series example is the finest example currently available anywhere.Its accompanying service and pedigree documentation of this never damaged or corroded air-conditioned specimen date back to August 1999 when we acquired it from a very knowledgeable individual at 19,745 miles.It has never been serviced or resold by anyone other than ourselves.
