Today, a rare flock of vehicles brandishes the Trident on their front grilles, a tribute to a town, a family, and the Roman god Neptune. It's not just your average person behind the wheel of a Maserati for sale. The driver who seeks out an Italian exotic car is understanding its price comes from a drive to be a marquee ahead of its time while remembering exactly where it comes from.

The family of Bologna might have had gasoline instead of blood running through their veins, and as a result, an international luxury brand exists today as their namesake. Founded by five brothers with a symbol created by the sixth, They got their start in 1914 as a manufacturer of race cars, as is so common among many heritage brands.

Oldest brother Carlo created his first engine at just 17 years old, which jumpstarted his career of moving from manufacturer to manufacturer, working for their racing teams and pulling his brothers Alfieri, Bindo, Ernesto, and Ettore into the companies with him. These brothers are the key to success in the USA. It was 1913 when Alfieri first decided to step out from the umbrella of a manufacturer and open his own workshop. Incorporations were received in December 1914, and the first workshop officially opened just a year before World War One. It wasn't until 1920 that the trident became the official logo after it was designed by Mario, who both the sixth brother and a painter. It stands as one of the most iconic symbols of Bologna, where Neptune holds his in the Piazza Maggiore. The company was sold to the Orsi family in 1937, who then moved the headquarters to Modena, where they stand to this day.

In order to offer a complete product lineup, the Levante is their first SUV. Well equipped examples can be had for under $80,000 with all the luxury and convenience one would expect. For those needing a compact sedan, the Ghibli packs big quality into a small package. Two flavors of twin-turbo V6 power and all-wheel drive make it a bargain in this segment.

The sixth-generation Quattroporte is the flagship of the brand. Combining twin-turbo V8 power with an active suspension, it offers the best of both worlds in terms of luxury and performance. If you only need two doors, the GranTurismo coupe is the quintessential Italian sports car. Offered as a hard top or convertible, two choices of V8 power will keep you ahead of the competition. The most exclusive model is the MC Stradale which omits the rear seats and other non-essentials. By reducing friction inside the engine, it is able to produce 444 hp. Almost 250 lbs of weight were shed by extensive use of composites, making it the most sought after model in recent history. A used car can be found fairly easy, due to the fact that most owners drive very few miles during their short ownership.

Be sure to go through our extensive network of trusted dealers to find new or used listings, at the right cost for you, whether you're purchasing or looking to lease.

One of the great benefits of late-model examples is Prepaid Scheduled Maintenance. A recently introduced program takes the hassle out of leasing or ownership by covering all parts and labor up to 48 months or 50,000 miles. A visit to your local dealership will change your perceptions of the brand, and you will see how they have reached record sales for the past few years.
