Authentic vehicle

The Dilambda was a variant of the 1922 Lancia Lambda and represented a more luxurious version of the original type. It was unveiled in New York in 1927 as an unfinished prototype. A finished production car was then finally presented at the Paris Salon in 1929. The car was offered in two factory body variants and as a chassis-only model.
Unlike the other Lancia cars with V4 engines of the time, this model was fitted with a new 3.9-litre V8 engine. This achieved an output of 100 hp at 4000 rpm and thrilled with good power even from low revs.
With a top speed of 130 km/h, it was considered relatively fast at the time. To ensure greater safety, the Dilamdba is built on a cross-shaped steel frame. Other innovations included the overhead camshaft engine, central lubrication of the chassis and independent front suspension (Lancia patent).
A Dilambda chassis cost 58,000 lire in 1931. A complete Fiat 514 Spyder was available for 14,900 lire.
The more open floor plan allowed the coachbuilders greater design freedom. The majority of the Dilambdas were built by Pininfarina, as Vincenzo Lancia himself had a minority shareholding in this company.
The young Gian-Battista Pinin Farina also suggested to Mr. Lancia that the originally round headlights be designed in a shield-shaped form as a reference to the Lancia logo.
A total of 1685 examples of the Dilambda were built.

Our car left the factory on 13.03.1931 as one of 91 produced short and low chassis (type 229, 2nd series), only to receive its special aluminium body by "Le Baron" after the war.

This authentic vehicle is not only exceptionally beautiful in design, but also delights with its driving pleasure and sporty engine sound.
