We offer for sale this beautiful Jaguar XJS Cabriolet from 1989. This XJS comes from a private collection of an enthusiast who has always maintained the classic car with a lot of love. Both optically and technically, the XJS is in absolute top condition. It is powered by the powerful 5.3 Ltr, V12 engine coupled to an automatic gearbox.

The Jaguar was repainted in the past in the original factory colour Satin Beige. It was also recently equipped with a new dark brown fabric soft top that combines beautifully with the paint. The Tan leather interior is in a very neat condition and is complemented by beautiful wood accents. This XJS also has an impressive option list including electrically operated mirrors, windows and soft top. It is also equipped with cruise control, climate control and heated seats.

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION at RM Sothebys' Monaco event, 10 - 11 May 2024.  â¬1,400,000 - â¬1,600,000 EUR   One of a limited number of race-going XJR-15s built to compete in the JaguarSport Intercontinental Challenge Campaigned by Works TWR driver Derek Warwick in the 1991 series Race-winner in the opening round at Monaco, edging out David Brabham by a split-second One of only 52 cars built Presented in its 1991 livery    The motorsport programme that would take the Jaguar name back to the pinnacle of international sports-car racing during the 1980s was masterminded by Tom Walkinshaw. His TWR outfit delivered Le Mans victories in 1988 and 1990, plus three Manufacturers' World Championship titles, and the Silk Cut-liveried Jaguars would become iconic reminders of a golden period of motorsport history.  It was during 1988 that Walkinshaw hatched a plan to create a road car that would offer some of the sensations of his Group C racers. Peter Stevens-later to design the McLaren F1-was brought in, and the small team also included Eddie Hinckley, Dave Fullerton, and Andy Morrison.  Initially working from the carbon fibre XJR-8 tub that had survived Win Percy's accident at Le Mans in 1987, they set about developing a car that could meet roadgoing regulations, featured more interior room than the Group C racer, and could be built using a much simpler production process. It retained much of that car's ethos, however, and was powered by a 450 brake horsepower, 6-litre version of Jaguar's mighty V-12 engine.  The prototype was ready for Walkinshaw to drive when he returned from Le Mans in summer 1990, at which point this was still very much a TWR project. By the time of its official launch in November that year, however, a deal had been done with Jaguar to produce it under a different name-the TWR R9R had become the JaguarSport XJR-15.  During 1991, the new car would be showcased in the Intercontinental Challenge, a spectacular three-race series that supported that year's Formula 1 Grands Prix at Monaco, Silverstone, and Spa-Francorchamps. Tempted by the million-dollar, winner-takes-all finale at Spa, owners were invited to enter their XJR-15 and the drivers employed to race them included the likes of David Brabham, Armin Hahne, John Nielsen, Ian Flux, Tiff Needell, and Bob Wollek.  The XJR-15 being offered for sale-chassis 020-would be driven in the Intercontinental Challenge by perhaps the most famous name on the driver roster. By 1991, Derek Warwick had enjoyed a stellar career in which he'd driven for Toleman, Renault, Brabham, Arrows, and Lotus in Formula 1, and he'd long been a mainstay of the TWR-Jaguar sports-car team. In fact, the week before the opening round of the Intercontinental Challenge took place, he won the Monza 430 Kilometres, sharing a Jaguar XJR-14 with Martin Brundle.  The sight and sound of 16 XJR-15s being hustled around the tight streets of Monaco impressed everyone who saw it. The first practice session was held in damp conditions and Warwick soon set the benchmark time, before coming back into the pits to see if anyone else could get near it. As the track dried out, Armin Hahne went quicker, so Warwick leapt back into his XJR-15. With time for only a single flying lap, he reclaimed pole position in 1 minute 47.8 seconds-a full 1.6 seconds clear of Hahne.  Second practice was wet, so the grid remained unchanged for the race on Saturday afternoon. The field was led around by Walkinshaw, driving a Jaguar XJS, before being unleashed from a rolling start. Warwick and Hahne went toe-to-toe into the first corner, but Warwick held the lead as they climbed the hill towards the casino.  After Hahne spun at the Swimming Pool section, Warwick built a lead of four seconds over David Brabham, but then the Englishman had his own scare at the Swimming Pool-right in front of a spectating Nigel Mansell. He gathered it all up and retained the lead, but Brabham and 3rd-placed Davy Jones were now snapping at his heels. Warwick had it all under control, though, and took victory by 0.7 seconds.   He then took pole position for the next round of the Intercontinental Challenge at Silverstone, and looked to be favourite to claim another win. In what turned out to be an eventful race, though, he was beaten away from the rolling start by Brabham and Euser. When Brabham went wide at the first corner, Euser and Warwick got past into 1st and 2nd, and as they arrived at Stowe corner, Warwick tried to get past on the outside. It didn't work, contact was made, and Warwick suffered a puncture that forced him into the pits. He rejoined, but retired three laps later with a throttle problem.  The final round of the series was the million-dollar race at Spa-Francorchamps. Warwick lined up in 3rd place on the grid and held that position as they completed the opening lap. He was still close behind Armin Hahne and Cor Euser on the ninth lap, when he dropped a wheel onto the grass in the fast corners leading to the Bus Stop chicane and crashed into retirement.  During the mid-1990s, this XJR-15 was sold from Europe to an owner in the USA, before returning to Europe in the mid-2000s. Its rear panel has been modified so that it can be opened more easily, and while it is presented in running condition, it will need further recommissioning work before tackling any serious track use.   Only 50 of these JaguarSport XJR-15s were built, plus two more TWR-badged cars, and chassis 020 is one of only three that boast a race-winning history. The model predated the McLaren F1 as being the first all-carbon road car, and in recent years, the combination of its stunning Peter Stevens styling, fabulous V-12 engine and TWR pedigree has led to its growing status in the eyes of discerning collectors. To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION at RM Sothebys' Monaco event, 10 - 11 May 2024.  â¬350,000 - â¬450,000 EUR   The world's fastest production car of its day Odometer indicates just 4,492 kilometres at time of cataloguing Elegant, custom colour combination of Dark Grey over Sand leather Desirably upgraded by specialist Don Law Racing with optional BBS light alloy wheels, improved brake system,  Late-production example; numbered 265 of approximately 282 completed by JaguarSport    Reputedly signed off by company chairman Sir John Egan only a week before its debut at the 1988 Birmingham Auto show, the reception of Jaguar's clandestinely developed XJ220 prototype was nothing short of rapturous. Jaguar fever swept the show halls, and within an hour some 1,500 people had placed a pre-order for the new car, each laying down a Â£50,000 deposit to secure their production slot.   Among the headline-grabbing innovations was a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V-12 engine further to four-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering, and anti-lock brakes. All was clothed in effortlessly elegant, Helfet-styled aluminium coachwork that drew inspiration from the legendary D-Type, E-Type, and XJ13.  Jaguar and TWR subsequently established JaguarSport Ltd., which would produce the XJ220 in limited numbers at a new dedicated facility. However, emissions compliance issues necessitated the replacement of the prototype's V-12 engine with a 3.5-litre V-6 twin-turbo equivalent. Additionally, the four-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering systems were also discarded on the grounds of cost and complexity.   Nevertheless, the 542 brake horsepower production version crucially retained the prototype's spectacular looks and performance. It reached 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds-quicker than the Ferrari F40, Porsche 959, and Lamborghini Diablo-while its headline top speed of 343 km/h made it, until the arrival of the McLaren F1, the world's fastest production car.  Fewer than 300 of these special cars were built, among them chassis 220673, which was marked as manufactured on 22 November 1993 and left JaguarSport's manufacturing facility on 19 January 1994, finished in Silverstone Green over a Sand leather interior. First registered during September 1996, at some point during prior ownership, the car was professionally repainted in its elegant, non-standard shade of Dark Grey.   By 2015, XJ220 number 265 resided in Switzerland, where it was previously registered in Bern as BE3459 before its purchase by the consignor during June 2020. In February 2018, this XJ220 was submitted to model specialist Don Law Racing for more than Â£19,000 of servicing which included a comprehensive engine servicing, brake system upgrade, new seals, belts, gaskets, and lines, as well as the fitment of optional BBS light alloy mesh wheels wrapped in Bridgestone tyres.  Since acquiring this spectacular limited-production supercar, the consignor has added approximately 300 kilometers of fair-weather use, and as presented today this XJ220's odometer shows just 4,492 kilometers from new. Maintenance duties have been entrusted to Rebellion Motors of Lausanne, and while in their care the car has received nearly 5,800 CHF-worth of sorting and fine tuning to its fuel system, and electricals. Price Upon Request   Street-legal counterpart of the Jaguar XJR-9 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988 and 1990 One of only 50 production examples constructed; one of 27 completed in roadgoing specification Showing just 78 miles at time of cataloging First production car with a body constructed entirely of a carbon fiber and Kevlar mix    By the mid-to-late 1980s, Jaguar had firmly reestablished itself as a force to be reckoned with in the top echelon of motorsport. Jaguar formed a partnership with Tom Walkinshaw Racing, called JaguarSport, in 1986; its objective was to compete, and win, in the same World Sportscar Championship (WSC) where Jaguar had built its racing legacy with its C-Type and D-Type racers.  Jaguar honed the performance credentials of its XJR prototype racecar platform through various model iterations. This culminated with the XJR-9 and XJR-12, which won the 1988 and 1990 editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This monumental success on the track would form the building blocks for what followed from Jaguar. Demand for a roadgoing version of the XJR-9 was apparent, and so the thundering, ground-breaking XJR-15 was birthed with development by JaguarSport.  Employing a heavily tuned 6-liter, 450-horsepower version of the same V-12 engine that brought Jaguar its recent victories, and with an approximately 2,300-pound curb weight, the XJR-15 possessed a race-bred power to weight ratio that outclassed all supercars of the era. However, the comparisons to the XJR-9 did not end there. The XJR-15 used a central monocoque chassis tub similar in concept to that of the Tony Southgate-designed, Le Mans-winning XJR-9, although this new tub, designed Jim Router and Dave Fullerton, differed somewhat in its dimensions. The body was designed by Peter Stevens, who was also responsible for the McLaren F1, and was constructed with a unique carbon fiber and Kevlar composite. Notably, this was the world's first roadgoing car to use carbon fiber in the construction of its body and tub. The XJR-9 suspension was retained at all four wheels, with fabricated wishbones and horizontal pushrodspring dampers at the front and coil springs at the rear. Four-piston AP Racing calipers mated to disc brakes housed completely within the wheels provided stopping power.  After undergoing development tests through 1990, the car was officially launched in November of that year, built by JaguarSport in a specialized facility in Oxfordshire. In a production run that would last until 1992, Jaguar Sport would build 50 production examples of the XJR-15. Of these, only 27 of those would leave the factory in roadgoing specification, while the others followed directly in the lineage of the preceding XJR racecars and were built especially for the track.  Serial number 008, presented here, is one of the 27 XJR-15s constructed for road use. These XJR-15s were equipped with five-speed transaxles rather than the race-tuned, six-speed Le Mans gearboxes. A preservation-quality example, chassis 008 displays a mere 78 miles at the time of cataloguing. Sold new in Japan to respected collector Miura Shoji, the car was kept in a meticulously preserved state until being acquired by an American collector in 2018. After being imported to the United States in December 2018, the car is said to have been sent to Fast Cars Limited of Redondo Beach, California for a full fluid change and general mechanical checkup. The consignor acquired the car in 2022 and, in July 2023, treated it to another complete fluid change by Fast Cars Limited.  With its carbon weave structure visible even through the paint, in addition to its clear engine cover and three-piece OZ racing wheels, the exterior delights the senses and hints at the car's astounding performance. Inside, leather racing seats cradle the driver and passenger, with hardwired headsets for easy conversation when cruising in the triple digits. Come upon an XJ220 for the first time and you see pure automotive sculpture, a Rodin on wheels, a shape that-to hell with practicalities-is simply gorgeous.  It was love at first drive for automotive journalist Galvin Green as he climbed behind the wheel of Jaguar's all-new XJ220 in August 1992. Writing for CAR Magazine, Green was so taken with the car's grace, pace, and space, he continued, Jaguar's old motto is honorably maintained. Here is a 200mph monster that will fusslessly transport you, and friend, to the south of France with ease.nothing about driving the XJ220 is difficult.  Dreamt as a full competition racer with no production plans, the Jaguar XJ220 was intended to prove the team at Coventry could still design, engineer, and manufacture supercars on par with its German and Italian competitors. Upon debut at the 1988 Birmingham Auto Show however, so many buyers stood waiting with open checkbooks that Jaguar was forced to reconsider its production plans. The civilian XJ220 was to be a powerful and aerodynamic two-seat, all-wheel-drive coupe capable of more than 200 mph while providing a superior level of luxury and comfort to other supercars of the time, including the celebrated Porsche 959 and spartan Ferrari F40.  Entering production in 1992, the XJ220 followed the iconic XK120 in being named for its projected top speed, 220 mph, which was nearly achieved in a time trial on the high-bank test track in Nardo, Italy. The car proved quicker to 60 mph than both the F40 and Lamborghini Diablo and even set a new lap record for a production car at the Nurburgring.  THE LAST XJ220  The XJ220 on offer here, chassis number 617, is an exceptionally desirable example, being documented as the final XJ220 constructed. Completed 28 March 1994, and finished just as it presents today in Le Mans Blue over Smoke Grey leather trim, the car was among a select few initially retained by Jaguar for their private collection. Hermetically sealed inside Carcoons under the watchful eye of Jaguar technicians, these cars became true time capsules of supercar technology.   When Jaguar decided to part with this special few, chassis 617 was imported to North America by RM Classic Cars who oversaw its EPA and DOT conversion. Testing for compliance with emissions and safety regulations was performed by Mark Timko at Compliance and Research in Newark, New Jersey before delivery to its first owner, a resident of New York City who enjoyed the Jaguar at his Greenwich and East Hampton residences. The car then passed to a Nashville, Tennessee-based enthusiast before being acquired by the Dare to Dream Collection in 2014. A collection of service invoices dating from delivery detail the careful maintenance this car enjoyed under both of its previous caretakers.   Upon acquisition by the collection, the XJ220 was then immediately treated to over $81,000 in work by the highly regarded technicians at Canepa of Scotts Valley, California. Accompanying invoices and photographs document a full engine-out service using parts sourced from XJ220 guru Don Law Racing, steam detailing of the engine compartment and undercarriage, and the all-important fuel cell replacement; all added up to a comprehensive refreshing and mechanical overhaul of a well-preserved automobile. Notably, its odometer displays just 3,769 kilometers (~2,342 miles) at the time of cataloguing, and it is accompanied now by owner's manuals, parts book and service manual, and 2*number in the description* service invoices and documentation. Accompanying the car is a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate which states the engine and transmission currently in the car are not numbers-matching. It is not known when the present engine and transmission were installed.  Superbly maintained and exceptionally well-documented, chassis 617, the last XJ220 ever constructed, is the proverbial final page in one of Jaguar's most illustrious chapters and offers the chance to acquire one of the world's most impressive, and elusive, supercars. In closing his column, Green looked to the future, writing: Other intriguing supercars are on the horizon, namely the Bugatti EB110 and McLaren F1, but these are different sorts of cars-technological statements from tiny specialists, rather than 200mph sculptures from the car industry big names. Besides, none will have the cachet of a Jaguar.   Much has changed in the three-plus decades that have followed, but in many ways, Green's words ring just as true today.
