The Audi Q5 is one of the marque’s newer models developed after market trends showed, around the world, an increasing trend in the demand for crossover SUVs in the luxury automotive segment. Though introduced as a concept car in 2007 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, 2008 was when they first offered the Audi Q5 for sale.

Of course, that offer was only to the European market. American consumers were asked to remain patient for one more year, as the US model went on sale in March 2009. Though that year was initially planned as the year they would release the Q5 hybrid, the marquee was not yet satisfied with the results of crash test, and development continued instead.

Since the model's first introduction, every Audi Q5 used a 3.6-liter V6 under the hood for the performance version, an engine that was capable of 270 hp and 243 lb-ft, plenty of power for the spacious five-seater car. However there are the other options, including more than a few Q5 TDI engines.

Various trim levels have been available with each production year, including the notable Q5 S Line. 20-inch S line wheels, headlight washers, shift paddles on a sport steering wheel, a black headliner, brushed aluminum and more are all included, as well as flared fender and door sill protection options.

In 2013, a more powerful engine was introduced, and the SQ5 became the first S model from Audi to house a diesel engine. Still A V6 but shave down to 3.2-liters, it can create approximately 308 hp and 480 lb-ft.
