THE ASTON MARTIN DBS 770
 
 
In 2023, Aston Martin announced that its long-running, twelve-cylinder DBS grand tourer was reaching the end of its production run. To honor the car's illustrious run, engineers at Gaydon whipped pulled out all the stops and whipped up commemorative model to send off the car with a bang. Rather than simply adding some special leather and badges, the team cranked up the wick on the DBS to create the DBS 770 Ultimate – the most powerful Aston Martin to ever hit the streets.
 
 
The 5.2-liter V12 belts out 759bhp and 664 lb-ft of torque, sending it to the rear wheels via a robust ZF-built 8-speed automatic transmission and a proper, old-fashioned mechanical limited slip differential. Performance claims are solidly in supercar territory, with the car reaching 60mph in about 3 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph.
 
 
To handle all that extra power, the 770 Ultimate has a stiffer structure courtesy of revised crossmembers and undertray, along with revised steering and damping. New 21-inch wheels, revised bumpers, and a host of interior upgrades set the 770 Ultimate apart from its standard brethren. Offered as both a coupe and open-topped Volante, just 499 units were built &#40;300 coupes, 199 Volantes&#41;, and were sold out nearly as quickly as it was announced. A fitting swansong, indeed.

1970 Aston Martin DBS Sports Saloon 5-Speed with Vantage Spec UpgradeThis 1970 Aston Martin DBS Sports Saloon is a desirable 5-speed example that's been upgraded to Vantage spec. Originally completed in Black over Red Connolly leather, it is precisely the color scheme with which it appears today. Its factory build sheet notes that this DBS was purchased new in White Plains, New York through J.S. Inskip. Ordered with the ZF 5-speed manual, options included air conditioning, power assisted steering, a Bosch New Yorker Radio, Fiamm horns, dual rear lap belts, and dual head rests. While not originally noted as being ordered as a Vantage-spec example, at some point the engine was upgraded to the more powerful specification with a triple Weber carburetor setup that this DBS still has today. An honest and largely original example that's been off the road and in storage for several years and is not currently running. It is advised that a thorough servicing be carried out prior to use. 1969 ASTON MARTIN DBS SALOON LHD with Matching Numbers and Desirable 5-Speed Manual Gearbox This 1969 Aston Martin DBS LHD with desirable 5-Speed Manual Gearbox is special both for its short list of owners as well as its original specification. According to copies of factory records, DBS/5417/LC was ordered new by Wallard Ward Malley, Jr., the president of The Edw. Malley Company. Malley's, New Haven's premier department store and a family business since 1848, afforded Wallace the means to buy his Aston, and the taste to specify all the right things. Finished in Fiesta Red over Black Connolly hides, Malley ensured he'd arrive at work looking cool thanks to a Coolaire air conditioning system. In addition to that, he'd be up-to-date with the news care of a Bosch New Yorker radio, safe thanks to front seat headrests and front and rear seat belts, and unruffled care of power-assisted steering. Delivered at the end of June 1969, Malley would only enjoy the car briefly before passing away in 1971. The estate would retain the car until April 25, 1973 when it was purchased by fellow Nutmeg State resident and banker Richard Hyman. A dedicated enthusiast, Mr. Hyman would drive and enjoy his DBS for the rest of his life. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2011, two years after Mr. Hyman's passing.  Largely original and still finished in its original color scheme, this three owner 5-Speed DBS has been frugally driven in the last decade and some recommissioning is recommended prior to active touring and use. 1969 ASTON MARTIN DBS SPORTS SALOONThis 1969 Aston Martin DBS Sports Saloon was ordered for the US market with air conditioning, dual rear lap belts, dual headrests, and an AM/FM Bosch 'New Yorker' radio. Finished in attractive and desirable Aquamarine over Dark Blue Connolly hides with matching Dark Blue carpets and a Grey headliner. The build record specifies the car to have been ordered new with a Borg Warner automatic transmission. However, the production record does not list this feature and given that the car currently has a 5-speed gearbox, it appears it may have in fact been delivered new with a manual transmission.A largely original car with a nice, lived-in interior. Formerly owned by an Aston Martin Owners Club member, it was clearly enjoyed in that ownership given the upgraded airbox and filter, aluminum radiator with electric fan, and modern alternator. 1971 Aston Martin DBS V8 Series II V8  This increasingly desirable 1971 Aston Martin DBS V8 is a highly original example that would benefit from minor cosmetics and servicing at this time. Overall, the exterior of this DBS V8 is in good condition for a 50-year-old car. The Ascot Gray paint is not without some flaws and the deep red leather interior shows plenty of patina but still complements the light exterior wonderfully. The dashboard is clean and the carpets fit snugly into their positions. The underside of the car is solid and tidy, as are things under the hood. Surface corrosion is minimal and everything is in its proper place. The rear glass has a crack in it but the rest of the glass remains intact. There are some bumps and bruises both inside and out, but work required to deal with them would be described as minimal at best. The car has been off the road for the last 10 years or so and will require servicing prior to active road use. Not currently running but the motor is cranking freely with the key. The build sheet shows that the car came equipped with an automatic transmission, air conditioning, speakers, Fiamm horns, two headrests, a Waso steering lock with ignition buzzer, a door mirror, and two rear lap bolts. With fantastic British styling, a roaring V8, and a fantastic color combination, this particular Aston would make a great drivers car, and its only a few steps away from being show-worthy. 1969 Aston Martin DBS Vantage Sports Saloon 5-Speed ManualThis 1969 Aston Martin DBS Vantage Sports Saloon is a 5-Speed manual example wearing its original color combination of Silver Birch over dark blue leather interior. According to its factory build sheet, the engine number is listed as 400/4253/SVC, which today has been replaced by an earlier unit, most likely from a late DB5 from its sequence number 2000. Its chassis plate has been updated to reflect this, and it still carries a triple Weber setup, suggesting that its performance would remain to Vantage levels. The build sheet also confirms that it was built to Vantage Saloon specifications for the Swiss market, including air conditioning, power assisted steering as well as having octagonal wheel nuts, a Bosch European Radio and one head rest, for the driver. It also had Swiss specification headlamps. A very honest and highly original driver quality example that's quite presentable overall. The driver's seat is certainly well worn, but elsewhere and particularly for the rear seats its condition is remarkably good. The Aston starts right up, runs and drives well. 1971 ASTON MARTIN DBS V8 SPORTS SALOONThe production DBS V8 chassis number sequence commenced with '10001', making this the 356th example of this landmark model built. According to the copies of factory records on file, this V8 was ordered new through Aston Martin Lagonda, Inc for export. Finished in the exceedingly Tudor Green over Tan leather, 10356 was handsomely optioned with air conditioning, automatic transmission, dual head rests, aerial and speakers, Waso steering lock, and Fiam horns. Completed on December 17, 1971 and shipped six days later on December 23, 1971 the first owner and any early history on the car is not recorded. At some point, likely in the last two decades, the car was repainted red but the interior appears to be original. Noted as having been in the U.S. in the early 1990s according to records from the Aston Martin Owners Club, it was presented in 1989-91 by a J. Stinsmen of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The previous owner acquired the car from New Jersey in March of 2008 and has maintained the car on static display since.
