In
1966,
Lancia
would
introduce
their
first
purpose-built
homologation
model
aimed
at
rallying:
the
Fulvia
1.2
HF,
or
"Hi-Fi."
Released
in
1971,
the
Lancia
Fulvia
Coupe
1600
HF
"Series
2"
was
the
pinnacle
of
Lancia's
development
on
the
Fulvia
platform.
The
diminutive
1,800-pound
chassis
utilized
lightweight
bodywork,
a
revised
suspension,
and
a
carbureted
1.6-liter
V-4
engine
which
was
mated
to
a
close-ratio
five-speed
manual
transmission.
Compared
to
the
large-headlight
"Fanalone"
Fulvia
that
preceded
it,
these
later
cars
had
smaller
headlights-hence
the
"Fanalino"
nickname.
In
either
guise,
the
success
of
the
Lancia
program
was
evident;
between
1966
and
1973
almost
no
rally
championships
in
continental
Europe
were
without
a
"Hi-Fi"
Fulvia
on
the
podium.Presented
