This 1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser has that cool classic 4x4 style you love, and it turns it up a notch with distinct paint, solid driving features, and an overall attitude from a convertible, off-road machine that's ready for anything.  The matte red is an instant attention-grabber.  It puts a modern twist on a classic FJ color, resulting in the iconic look you love with just the right touch of cruiser attitude added in.  It's a theme you'll see throughout this 4x4.  You have all the right rugged pieces, like the diamond plate side steps, full-size spare, upgraded hitch plate, and front tow hooks.  And we especially love the soft top.  It's a newer piece that looks clean and fresh, and at the same time, the classic tan looks like vintage safari gear.  Inside, tasteful black now joins the matte red.  The front seats three across in total, but you always have the individual bucket.  It's all finished in durable vinyl, and the setup is simple and rugged.  So it's easy to stay open to the world as long as you want, and cleaning up after a fun day out is as easy as a garden hose.  It has a well-done vintage style with floor shifters, a grippy three-spoke steering wheel, and a classic gauge panel with handy auxiliary readouts nicely integrated into the dash.  You even have nice upgraded seatbelts for both the front and the fold-up jump seats in the rear.    Toyota's trusty and torque-filled 4.2-liter inline-six is the backbone of the Land Cruiser's tough-as-nails reputation. It fires quickly, and the four-speed manual transmission gives you full control.  The 4x4 two-speed transfer case and deep treads on the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires ensure plenty of fun on the trails.  But this also has power steering, power brakes, and front discs - cruiser-ready features you won't find on all FJs.
