Blue/black interior. Billed to Shelby American on 3/10/66; shipped to Los Angeles. AC Cars charged an additional £7 for acrylic paint. Shelby invoice #000872, dated 7/7/66, billed Hi-Performance Motors (El Segundo, CA) for the car: “1966 Cobra Street, Blue, $6,145.00.” It was picked up at the factory. 

This Cobra was sold to an owner in Hollywood, CA who returned to Hi-Performance for several minor warranty repairs over a five-month period. 
The car’s next known owner was located in Malibu, CA who bought it in ’74 for $7,000. The car, still blue at this point, was soon repainted red. At 32,000 miles Wayne Richards of Solo Automotive (North Hollywood, CA) installed a 427 side-oiler engine. After a number of years sitting in storage, Henderson offered this Cobra for sale in 7/89. 

It was purchased by an individual located in England at a figure in the $350,000 range. The car was loaded on a trailer and ready to depart when the previous owner apparently developed a serious case of seller’s remorse and came very close to canceling the deal, but he didn’t. Back in England, the owner restored this vehicle in his own workshop. The car was completely disassembled, rebuilt, and repainted red. A comp fuel filler, chrome roll bar, 7.5˝ & 9.5˝ Halibrand wheels, S/C rear flares, and chrome side pipes were fitted, while the 427 with 2x4Vs was retained. 

The next owner from England acquired this vehicle in 11/92 and almost immediately sold it to the next owner located in England. Shipped back to the U.S., the Cobra was placed in the 1/93 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale (AZ) Auction, bringing a high bid of $201,000. The winning bidder from Springfield, OH passed it on to another associate. 

Under his ownership the Cobra won the People’s Choice award for the Most Popular Car at the Cincinnati Arthritis Foundation’s ’93 Midwest Concours. The car was advertised for sale in the summer of ’95. It was bought by an individual located in Indianapolis, IN, who placed it for sale again in 5/97: “Red; 1,000 miles since ’89 restoration to S/C specs; beautiful condition. The car was acquired by Motor Classic & Competition of White Plains, NY. 

The current owner located in Scranton, PA bought the Cobra from them early in ’99, noting that it remained just as Donegan had restored it. This Cobra was featured in the 8/93 issue of Cars & Parts magazine and the 5/99 issue of Classic & Sportscar magazine.
