The Lincoln Continental was engineered to be among the finest automobiles America has to offer, and the 1979 Lincoln Town Car Collectors Series was at the very top of the company's lineup. The 1979 model year is the finale for the last full-size luxury sedan built in America. To commemorate this historic event, the Flagship Town Car was offered as a limited edition, The Collector's Series, which epitomized the luxury and elegance of America's last traditional luxury sedan. The 1979 Continental Collector's Series came fully equipped. The Continental sedan with this elite option ran around $16,500. The cost of a fully equipped Collector's Series ran in excess of $18,000.  Comfort and convenience features and accessories optional on the Lincoln Continental are standard for The Collector's Series. This is a very special limited edition. Signature exterior features include color-keyed Coach Roof, gold-color grille and bumper inserts, right-hand remote-controlled outside rear view mirror, color-keyed premium bodyside moldings, color-keyed turbine-style cast aluminum wheels, Appearance Protection Group (front and rear carpeted floor mats, door edge guards and rear license plate frame), right and left-side illuminated vanity mirrors and Interior Light Group. This car is fitted with a set of American Classic white wall tires that enhance its classic look.  "Collector's Series" is affixed to each rear roof sail panel attesting to the fact that this is the quintessential luxury sedan. The Continental Collector's Series includes as standard equipment: power vent windows, interval wipers, Defroster Group (electric window defroster and heated left-side outside rear view mirror), and Headlamp Convenience Group (automatic headlamp dimmer, and Autolamp on/off delay system).  This is a sedan designed for comfort and pampers its occupants with Automatic Temperature Control, Illuminated Entry System and an Automatic Garage Door Opener. Front and rear center folding armrests are traditional Continental accoutrements as well as the convenience of standard Tilt Steering Wheel, Twin Comfort Lounge seats with both sides 6-way power adjustable  passenger recliner, Automatic Speed Control, Power Lock Group (includes trunk release), power windows, Cartier electric digital timepiece, illuminated outside thermometer, power steering and power brakes. The radio has been upgraded to a Kenwood unit with SiriusXM and AUX port. *1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V Collector Series*Some people claim that their classic car is in Showroom Condition but in the case of this Lincoln Continental Mark V, it is the truth. After spending its entire life stored indoors, this Mark V Collectors Series shows a mere 45 miles on the odometer and retains the original window sticker, still attached to the driver's side window. No matter how much you may spend restoring a car, there is absolutely no replicating the originality found on this stunning time capsule example.Built between 1977 and 1979, the Lincoln Continental Mark V was the ultimate American luxury coupe of the era and, at 230 inches in length, the longest 2-door coupe ever offered by Ford. Based on the prior generation Mark IV, the Mark V both grew dimensionally, while simultaneously dropping nearly 400 lbs in curb weight and increasing the level of luxury on the interior. The Mark V design featured a number of hallmarks from the Continental line that included rear Opera Windows as well as covered front headlight, front fender louvers and the Continental Kit rear decklid which harkened back to the Mark 1 Continental.This Continental Mark 5 is finished in White with a white vinyl roof and the body is in absolutely immaculate condition throughout. As you look around the car, you notice things like the original factory stampings on the inside buckets of the headlight housing are still present and bright yellow- something that would have worn off decades ago on any other Mark 5. The multi-spoke turbine-style wheels are a combination of gold and bare metal and they have that unique gloss to them that would be nearly impossible to recreate in the aftermarket. The aforementioned rear Continental Kit style trunk lid features a beautiful vinyl accent on the rear semi-circle with the Continental name and Lincoln badge affixed within.The interior is the ultimate in 1970s luxury- a sea of deep blue thick pile carpets and cushy blue velour upholstery. Massive front bucket seats with a console between them are like sitting on pillows, and envelop you as you sit into them. The blue dashboard features a combination of wood applique and stainless steel and in front of the driver sits a beautiful Cartier analog clock that was part of the Collector Series package. Like with the rest of the car, when you look in the interior, the overall condition is second to none and the 45 miles on the odometer and long term indoor storage are entirely believable.Over the past few decades, the large American luxury coupe has more or less died out. There is no doubt that the pinnacle of that genre of car were the vehicles coming out of Detroit in the 1970s with the Continental Mark 5 being one of the very best. This example presents a truly once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase what is sure to be one of the only, if not the only, sub-50 mile examples of this car in existence, presented in as-new condition from bumper to bumper.
