The birth of the "G Series" 911, which was produced from 1974 until 1989, was the next evolution of the 911 and proved to be an incredible foundation. With the G series reintroducing worldwide classics like the Carrera, which shared the legendary Carrera RS engine, or the 930, the first turbocharged 911 streetcar, there was a bit of everything for everyone.  Highly capable as a performance car and equally comfortable on long drives, the G series 911 has proved again that evolution is sometimes a good thing.

1984 marked the rebirth of the 3.2 Carrera name, having last been used by Porsche in 1977. Numerous upgrades were applied to the beloved 911 platform that made it even better to drive than before. A larger and more powerful 3.2-liter air cooled engine, larger brakes, and upgraded fuel and injection system components to name a few. Standard options were also upgraded, which included air conditioning, 5-speed manual transmissions, four-wheel independent suspension, fully integrated electronic ignition and fuel injection, and others.

This 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera found itself living in the golden sunlight of California for its entire life, first sold by Niello Porsche + Audi of Concord, California and was spec’d very heavily for its time. According to the copy of the window sticker and Niello sticker price sheet, the 911 was ordered in black with a full black leather interior, including a steering wheel with a raised hub, Monterey digital cassette radio, limited slip differential, power door locks, 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels, power driver’s seat, cruise control, sport shock absorbers, and an electric sunroof. While the starting MSRP of the 911 Carrera began at $31,950, the final total after options was $41,484, or almost 33% of the base MSRP in options.

While some owners might not keep some documents over time or maybe misplace a few, the first and only owner of this Carrera was not that. Neal Dawson, a Xerox employee living in the San Francisco Bay Area in Walnut Creek, California, proved to be a detailed and methodical owner. A large collection of original sales documentation accompanies the 911 Carrera, along with service records since new, including fuel receipts. The original sales contract, dated August 19th, 1985, shows that Neal Dawson was a shrewd negotiator, with a discount of $2,737.79 given to him for a total out the door price of his brand new 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera for $42,400.01, and paid for an additional 5-year maintenance contract. With original loan documentation from the Xerox Federal Credit Union showing Neal took out a $30,000 loan for the car, he also borrowed $12,400 from his parents, Carl and Bonnie Dawson, according to a personal loan note.

Neal kept a considerable amount of details and documents on his prized 911 during his ownership, spanning an incredible 39 years. Notes included a hand-written log of fuel used with receipts, dealer brochures and correspondence, and service records outlining his attention to detail with his black over black 911. In the first 8 years Neal logged 13,109 miles on the odometer, then in the next 17 years approximately 9,400 miles, and in the last 15 years just over 2,000 miles. He drove the car sparingly, driving it on special occasions and kept it in his garage when not being used, which is extremely evident from the original black leather interior and all original factory black paint and bodywork.

With Neal retiring from Xerox in 2006, the 911 saw limited but thoughtful use, with Neal still driving the car occasionally and making sure that it was serviced. A 911 in such excellent original condition as this is completely in part to the owner, and Neal did not take any half measures in ensuring his pride and joy was properly cared for. The temperate California weather in the Bay Area also helped, ensuring that the car overall wasn’t exposed to extreme climates. After 39 years of continuous ownership, Neal decided that it was time for his 911 to find a new caretaker that would appreciate his car as much as he did.

Upon arriving at Canepa, the 1985 911 Carrera was thoroughly inspected as part of the “Canepa Difference” process, ensuring that all mechanical systems are sound and that all cosmetic surfaces are addressed and detailed to the highest level. The care and meticulous nature of Neal plainly showed in the condition of the 911, from the all original leather interior to the all factory original black paint, and how the fit and finish doesn’t describe a 40 year old car but a much younger one. Regardless, the car was placed into Canepa’s system and the work began. The 911’s underside was completely cleaned by hand to a concours level, from top to bottom, ensuring that all surfaces were as clean as when the car was delivered, revealing the factory finishes were in like-new condition. Canepa refinished the heat exchangers, common items for any car that has seen driving miles over its lifetime. After being lowered back onto the ground, a multi-step foam pad polishing was performed by Canepa’s automotive artisans to carefully enhance the Porsche’s 100% original black paint. The all original interior was given the same attention to detail, and over the course of several weeks the car was ready entered into any concours event.

Canepa’s work was not complete yet. While the U.S. delivered Porsche Carreras are a timeless figure, that isn’t to say that things can’t be optimized and upgraded tastefully. A Porsche factory front lip spoiler was added to the car, along with moving the 7x16 Fuchs alloy wheels to the front, with a set of factory 8x16 dated-coded Fuchs alloy wheels added to the rear, with new Michelin tires. To complete the look, the Carrera was lowered and aligned to Porsche factory European specifications, filling the wheel wells more evenly giving the black 911 the proper stance it deserved.

This 2004 Porsche Carrera GT was built on September 23rd, 2004 in Porsche’s Leipzig factory. Painted in the stunning Porsche’s iconic GT Silver Metallic, spec’d with options included air conditioning, Porsche Online Pro CD Radio, and other items. As a U.S.-spec Carrera GT, it was originally delivered to the sunny state of Hawaii.

The Carrera GT saw a low-milage lifestyle during the past two decades. Acquired by a collector in 2016 as a part of his larger collection, the car remained in his ownership until being acquired by the latest owner in 2021. The most recent owner, known in the automotive circles as being fanatical about maintenance, decided to bring his Carrera GT in for a major service. What started as a major service in March of 2023 turned into an exacting and thorough dive through of the entire vehicle, including the replacement of the ceramic-composite clutch assembly, rear main seal, camshafts, and more. Anything and everything that needed attention was addressed, spanning 7 months in the quest for best for his Carrera GT.

In addition to the usual major service items, including oil changes, belts, spark plugs, thermostat, battery replacement, the deeper dive into the Carrera GT ensured that everything was 100% to spec. Having such access to replace many of these components only comes from when the chassis is split in two, and the owner took advantage to replace all that needed replacing. The ceramic composite clutch assembly, which requires separating the carbon fiber chassis in two and is incredibly time and skill intensive, was replaced. The engine and gearbox were removed for a valve train adjustment, which at the time upgraded Repasi camshafts were installed, set to time, and adjusted to specification. Camshaft controller hardware and upgraded DLC-coated intake camshaft locking discs were also installed. The crankshaft seal and the rear main seal were replaced. New ignition coils were installed, the brake system fluid flushed, and had new Michelin tires installed. Upon completion of this extremely detailed service In October of 2023, the Carrera GT now had a mechanical investment made to it to the tune of $105,001.82.

During his major service visit, Porsche had issued a voluntary recall in April of 2023 on Carrera GTs to address the possibility that some of the suspension components could wear prematurely. During this time parts were unavailable during the major service, which led to the Carrera GT to return to be serviced in February of 2025. During this time, both front and rear trailing arms were replaced with new, upgraded factory Porsche components. Not to waste time while in for service, the owner decided to have a minor service for the Carrera GT to be performed, which included an oil and filter change, engine air filters, 4-wheel brake fluid flush, cabin air filter, and replacement of both drive belts. A complete inspection was also performed, where additional maintenance on the starter was performed. This mechanical investment, spanning 3 months and completing in February of 2025, was $10,028.69 with 4,398 miles on the odometer.

Upon arriving at Canepa, it was hard to imagine a better-prepared Porsche Carrera GT. With such major mechanical items such as the ceramic composite clutch replacement taken care of and a major and minor service just recently completed, it gives the future owner a sense of confidence that they can put miles on without a care in the world, besides possibly getting a speeding ticket. This 2004 Porsche Carrera GT is exceptionally serviced and in exceptional condition, ready for its next owner to use all 605hp created from the 5.7L V10 engine located just inches from the passenger’s ears.

About the Porsche Carrera GT

The development of the Carrera GT can be traced back to the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing cars. Due in part to the FIA and ACO rule changes in 1998, both designs had ended. Porsche at the time had planned on a new Le Mans prototype for 1999, initially intending to use a turbocharged flat-6, but was later redesigned to use a new V10 engine. The V10 was a unit secretly built by Porsche for the Footwork Formula One team in 1992, but later shelved. The engine was resurrected for the Le Mans prototype and increased in size to 5.7 liters. The project was canceled in mid-1999, mostly due to Porsche's wish to build the Cayenne SUV with involvement from Volkswagen and Audi, thus requiring engineering expertise to be pulled from the motorsports division.

Porsche did keep part of the project alive by using the 5.5 L V10 from the prototype in a concept car shown at the 2000 Paris Motor Show, mainly in an attempt to draw attention to their display. Surprising interest in the vehicle, and an influx of revenue provided from the Cayenne helped Porsche decide to produce the car, and development started on a road-legal version that would be produced in small numbers at Porsche's new manufacturing facility in Leipzig. Porsche started a production run of Carrera GTs in 2004, shipping the units with an MSRP of USD $448,000. Featuring a bespoke carbon fiber chassis, titanium suspension components, and carbon fiber bodywork, and most importantly a 5.7L naturally aspirated V10 with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Carrera GT was an immediate automotive sensation. The first Carrera GT went on sale in the United States on January 31, 2004.

Originally a production run of 1,500 cars was planned. However, Porsche announced in August 2005 that it would not continue production of the Carrera GT through to 2006, citing discontinuation was due to changing airbag regulations in the United States. As of May 6, 2006, 1,270 GT's had been manufactured, with 644 being sold in the United States.

But sometimes it's that cumulative silence that drives innovation and creates the need to be one step ahead of people's expectations. McLaren took ahold of those reins and then some with this: the 2016 McLaren P1 GTR. The most hardcore, race-oriented and limited-edition McLaren P1 ever created.  The McLaren P1 GTR was originally released as a special track-only version of McLaren's P1 street car, available and offered to only to McLaren P1 owners once the last of the 375 street P1s were completed. However, due to the similarities to the road car, there have been a number of cars made to allow the P1 GTR to become road-legal. The GTR was given revised engine mapping for a power boost, a fixed and larger hydraulically-actuated wing that was capable of immense downforce, special aerodynamic improvements including a larger front splitter and carbon fiber underside which is good for 10% more downforce.  Together these touches produce a whole new package, creating this ultimate hardcore P1. A wider track of 3.2 inches vs. the normal P1 ensures space for wider front and rear tires for ample grip. 110 pounds are stripped from the already-lightweight body by removing various components including sound deadening materials and replacing the car's glass with polycarbonate. The results are a staggering set of numbers: A combined output of 986 horsepower, 0-60 miles per hour in just 2.4 seconds and will reach a top speed of 225 miles an hour, all while being able to brake from 60 miles an hour to 0 in 85 feet while cornering at 1.54Gs.  With no regulations to limit them, the engineers at McLaren were let loose to turn everything to 11 with every intent of maxing performance out of every possible system. The mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine paired with its high-performance electric motor generate a mind-boggling 986hp. With this performance an F1 ERS-style push-to-pass system has been designed for the GTR, allowing you to have sudden bursts of extra power to get past that nagging driver at your track day. This sudden boost is good for a total of 1,045 horsepower for short bursts. The large fixed wing features a F1-derived Drag Reduction System for straight line speed, and the exterior wing mirrors have been repositioned to the A pillars to move them closer to the eye of the driver and reduce aerodynamic drag. Included inside every GTR is a permanent video recording system, able to monitor the driver's actions while overlaying data upon export to review after their sessions.  The GTR benefits from other improvements that were not included on the street car. The entire car has been lowered, but retains its front axle nose lift for loading and going over bumps you might encounter. 19-inch motorsport center locking wheels ensure quick and secure wheel changes with the onboard jacking system, borrowed from McLaren's 650S GT3 racer. Below the massive wing sits a bespoke titanium and Inconel alloy exhaust system. Per McLaren, the exhaust maximizes the visceral sound from the 3.8-liter V8 engine while reducing backpressure to increase performance. Later in the year, and with only about 1,000 total miles on its odometer, Mr. Kern sold 15273 to active sports car enthusiasts, his family friends Regina "Regie" Doll and her husband, John, of Thurmont, Maryland. The Daytona would remain in their ownership for the next four decades, a testament to how special this Ferrari truly is.  And these weren't garage queen collectors. The Dolls owned and actively enjoyed dozens of sports cars over the years, from MGs to Mercedes SLs, even Ferraris galore.  Regie wasn't just a passenger; she was competitive in sports car racing as far back as 1957, Mrs. Doll was a charter member of the Mason Dixon Sports Car Club and co-founder of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship for Autocrossing.  Highlights of the Doll collection included no fewer than five Ferraris, including a 250 GT, a 275 GTS, and a 275 GTB/4, as well as a 342 America that the couple drove to see the races at Sebring. The interior was removed, cleaned, and rebuilt using its original materials. The only surfaces replaced on the interior were the mousehair dash covering, the carpets, and the seat bolster surrounds. Porsche is no stranger to creating special and rare editions of the 911, often featuring advanced technology or celebrating a milestone for the automaker which are made available to the public. The last of the air-cooled Porsche 911s, the 993 is the final evolution of the storied air-cooled lineage from Porsche. The 993 boasts all of the innovations and refinement that Porsche learned from building the 911 for 30+ years, creating a simple yet distilled package of excellent driving dynamics, everyday comfort and accessible performance. The C2S featured a 3.6L air cooled flat six engine producing 282 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque, and was the final iteration of the air cooled engines from Porsche.

The 1997 Porsche 993 C2S Vesuvio Edition is one of these rare cars, built in an extremely limited production run of only 60 examples. Straight from the Porsche Exclusive department, these 911s were created and built to celebrate Porsche’s 50th anniversary as an auto manufacturer. The Vesuvio Edition retained the same winning C2S characteristics that owners and drivers came to love, such as the coveted wider Turbo bodywork, rear wheel drive, immense physical grip, everyday comfort and accessible performance, with some additional design cues. The most obvious cue is the special Vesuvio Metallic paint, a subtle yet contemporary purple and grey producing a fine metallic shimmer in direct sunlight. The C2S-specific decklid, a callback to the 356 Super “Twin Grille” of the 60s, along with the side mirrors, door handles, and wheels are painted Porsche Steel Grey, offering a unique two-tone design.

This Porsche 993 C2S Vesuvio Edition was produced on November 6th, 1996 in Stuttgart, Germany. Produced in Vesuvio Metallic over a rare black leather interior, the C2S was optioned with 18” Turbo Twist hollow spoke wheels, air conditioning, an electric sunroof, heated front seats, and Porsche Becker CD-Radio combination. The rarer options for the Vesuvio Edition, a black leather interior vs. grey and a 6-speed manual transmission vs. Tiptronic, were both selected, making this an even rarer example of the 60 produced. It is rumored that half of the total 60 examples of production were Tiptronic, leaving the 30 or so examples with a 6-speed to be highly coveted.

The car found its first longtime owner in Munich, Germany. He would remain the caretaker of the C2S from February of 1997 until the end of 2022. During this time he drove the 911 sparingly, ensuring the car was taken to its bi-yearly TÜV inspections shown in accompanying paperwork, and was serviced several times according to the Porsche factory maintenance booklet. After owning the car for over 25 years, the car had traveled only 5,000 miles.

In December of 2022 the Vesuvio C2S was imported to the United States and was completely serviced while with its caretaker, and the Porsche arrived at Canepa shortly after.

Upon arrival, the Vesuvio Edition C2S was a sight to behold. With one of only 60 examples produced, it is the rarest 993 C2S edition production car created by the Porsche Exclusive department. A thorough inspection both inside and out returned results of a car that was kept in like-new condition and in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition, no doubt in part by the odometer which had just reached 5,943 miles. The car was shortly dispatched into the “Canepa Difference” process where it went through a detailed and exacting inspection, comprehensive mechanical servicing, and concours-level detailing to ensure a showroom-level finish.

Beginning with the underside of the Porsche, the C2S was lifted up to reveal a perfect, untouched factory cosmoline coating which looked as if it had never been disturbed. Technicians hand washed every square inch of the underside and removed the factory coating to reveal the finishes perfectly preserved and like new. Next, C2S was polished to perfection using a multi-stage foam pad polishing method by Canepa’s automotive artisans, enhancing the already lustrous shine of the limited edition metallic paint. The rare black leather interior was given an equal amount of attention, cleaning every crevice and ensuring the factory leather was conditioned to remain a concours-level example for years to come. Completely finished, the C2S now looks possibly better than it did when it left the factory assembly line. Included with this 993 C2S are its original factory books, tool roll, jack, compressor, spare wheel/tire, and roadside safety equipment.

With Canepa’s work completed, this 1997 Porsche 993 C2S Vesuvio Edition is probably the finest in existence. Porsche is no stranger to “more power and rear wheel drive”, a performance combination revered amongst car enthusiasts and racers alike. The Porsche 911 GT2 RS name laid dormant in Stuttgart for 7 years, last used in 2011 with the 997. Then in 2017, the 2018 991 GT2 RS was announced and the GT2 RS moniker was reborn. With a staggering 690 horsepower produced from its 3.8-liter twin-turbo-
charged engine, this dual-clutch, rear-wheel drive “widowmaker” was an instant sensation. This immense power allows the GT2 RS to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 211 mph. Adding on top of its already resounding positive press, it set a production car lap record at the Nürburgring with a 6:47 minute lap time, cementing this car as the “baddest” street-legal cars in the world, bar none.

This 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS was ordered new and was delivered to Porsche Grapevine of Grapevine, Texas in August of 2018. Optioned with $28,420 in Porsche factory options, the biggest and most significant option was the Paint-to-Sample option for $12,830, with the owner opting to swathe the GT2 RS in Pastel Orange, an extremely rare color choice for a GT2 RS. Other options include Leather/Alcantara Interior in Black, Extended Deviated Stitching Interior Package, Front Axle Lift, LED Headlights in Black with PDLS, Instrument Dials in white, Window Triangle Trim in Carbon Fiber, Seat Belt Outlet in Alcantara, Sport Chrono Stopwatch Dial in white, Light Design Package, Door Sill Guards in Carbon Fiber &#40;Illuminated&#41;, Extended Range Fuel Tank &#40;23.7gal&#41;, Fire extinguisher, and Sun Visors in Alcantara. The GT2 RS found itself used sparingly by its caretaker, and was regularly serviced at Porsche North Houston. The Porsche followed a similarly regimented maintenance schedule at SunCoast Motorsports Porsche when its new owner acquired it in May of 2020, which by that time the car had only accumulated 254 miles. This caretaker would keep the car in their possession until the end of 2024, which by this time the odometer had just ticked over 1,000 miles after owning it for 4.5 years.

Upon arriving at Canepa, the Pastel Orange GT2 RS was thoroughly inspected both cosmetically and mechanically through the “Canepa Difference” process, ensuring that systems and surfaces are excellent. With only 1,293 miles on the odometer upon arrival with a full paint protection film applied, the GT2 RS presents like a new 911 off the Porsche showroom floor. Despite this, Canepa engaged multiple departments to bring this GT2 RS to the next level. Canepa’s custom carbon fiber winglets, an $8,500 option, were installed for a stealth presence, while the OEM rear spoiler was removed &#40;the original Pastel Orange OEM rear spoiler is included in the sale of this GT2 RS&#41;. Next, Canepa’s in-house paint artisans matched the beautiful shade of Platinum that Porsche employs on its own wheels, enhancing the look of the center-locking aluminum alloy wheels. Future Canepa custom plaid seat inserts were designed and ordered to give the interior a unique presence. Starting from humble beginnings as a small repair shop in Pfaffenhausen, Germany, Ruf Automobile GmbH as it is known as one of the foremost turners and manufacturers of specialized vehicles based on the Porsche platform. In 1974, Alois Ruf Sr. passed away with son, 24 year-old Alois Ruf Jr., taking the reins of the company, already a deep sports car enthusiast while modifying and restoring cars. It didn’t take long for him to veer the company towards his passion: sports cars from Zuffenhausen, specifically Porsche 911s. Ruf built their first car in 1977 in the form of a Porsche 911 Turbo with a stroked 3.3-liter engine, and more cars followed suit.
 
 
The German shop progressed steadily over the years with different upgrades and modifications, gaining fame within automotive circles. But the world was not prepared for their biggest achievement to date, released in 1987 at the Geneva Motor Show: the Ruf CTR, the 463-horsepower twin-turbo flat six Porsche 911-based Ruf car, lovingly dubbed by Car & Driver later and now by the general automotive public, “Yellowbird”. That is, until Ruf arrived at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show exactly 30 years after the Yellowbird was first revealed, and announced their latest project and achievement: the Ruf CTR Anniversary.
 
 
Celebrating Ruf’s 30-year anniversary since the original release of the CTR “Yellowbird”, Ruf decided that it was high time to honor their legacy and the car that many feel put Ruf on the automotive map in the most significant way. Starting from the ground up, the CTR Anniversary was created as a clean slate. While you’d be forgiven if you saw it quickly passing by and assumed it was a Porsche, you’d be wrong. Instead, you’d be met with a bespoke automotive package from Ruf that is their ultimate expression of their engineering and tuning prowess. And with only 50 being built, it would be extremely exclusive.
 
 
Starting with the chassis, Ruf determined that a normal steel or aluminum unibody would not suffice for their performance-celebrating CTR Anniversary, and decided to put considerable resources into designing and producing a bespoke carbon fiber monocoque chassis. Touted as their most advanced vehicle to date, the Ruf CTR Anniversary is considerably lighter and stronger than their previous cars. This technological choice helps reduce weight in the car considerably which in turns pays dividends. With the steel front and rear structural members bolting directly to the chassis, like the Ruf-trademark integrated roll cage, helps protect occupants while offering an extremely stable foundation for the double-wishbone 4-wheel independent in-board pushrod suspension. Bespoke carbon fiber body panels surround the entire vehicle, further reducing weight. This attention to detail in reducing weight not only helps the CTR Anniversary excel at handling and acceleration, but also maintaining a feather-like curb weight of 2,646lbs dry.
 
 
The original CTR was defined by its modified 3.4L twin-turbo engine, and the CTR Anniversary received a healthy dose of modern ingenuity and performance. With a custom 3.6L twin-turbo water-cooled flat six engine from Ruf producing 710hp and 649 lb-ft of torque, the CTR Anniversary is capable of a top speed of 224 mph and accelerating from 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds.. A custom 7-speed manual transmission, designed by Ruf and built by ZF, was designated for the CTR Anniversary to maintain the soul of the original while keeping the experience engaging.
 
 
With the driving experience being such an important part of the original CTR Anniversary, Ruf ensured that its successor would be even better for the driver. One of the first things noticed upon entering the cabin of the CTR Anniversary, besides the bare carbon fiber tub exposed in various places reminding you of what this car is underneath, is the no-nonsense design. No large screens, no wall of buttons, just a few dials for controls, specific buttons for things like the integrated front axle lift system, and your gauge cluster. Alois Ruf Jr. wanted the driver to enjoy the car without distractions, to fully experience the car while driving. Leather carbon bucket seats with deviated stitching accent the cabin, with a rear carbon package shelf with “CTR” emblazoned across.
 
 
This 2021 Ruf CTR Anniversary was completed in August of 2021 in Pfaffenhausen, Germany. Spec’d in Blossom Yellow, the same iconic color as the original Ruf CTR, a black leather interior was chosen along with yellow deviated stitching throughout. The 1st owner, a respected collector/successful historic race car driver, drove the Ruf CTR Anniversary 5,802 miles during his ownership, thoroughly enjoying the Pfaffenhausen-built supercar.

With its first lightning strike of a car, the CTR in 1987, it continued its heritage and proudly created its modern 21st-century swansong, the CTR Anniversary. 1991 MCI Canepa Design Bus Prototype  In 1990, MCI engaged Canepa Design to create a coach for their upscale clientele. Already known for their aero work on big rigs from Peterbilt and Kenworth, Bruce and his team set to work on creating an ultimate coach experience. Only two were ever built, one for Roger Penske and the second one for Bruce Canepa.  This coach has the most extensive exterior upgrade package of any MCI coach ever built, with over $350,000 invested to this point of completion. At the MCI factory the roof was raised 6" for additional head clearance, and a center door added for increased accessibility. Custom upgrades abound, including: a body kit valued at over $100,000 (see below for details,) a souped-up Detroit Diesel courtesy of Penske, suspension upgrades to eliminate body roll, and custom wheels and wheel covers. Exactly what you would expect of a bus designed by a racecar driver and engineer.  This is a brand new chassis and body. This bus has never been registered, and is currently under the manufacturer's Statement of Origin. The interior is conversion ready. The mileage reflects only the transportation from the manufacturing plant in Canada to MCI's research and development center in Roswell New Mexico, then to Detroit Diesel, and then to Canepa in California. These days, even entry-level luxury cars offer a wealth of features to satisfy all but the most discerning of buyers, and the 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is near the top of its class in terms of features.  This particular C300 comes with the luxury package, which features the 3.0-liter, 228-horsepower V-6 through a 7-speed transmission to the rear wheels. All models benefit from a hydraulic shock system with adaptive damping called Agility Control, and all get the Adaptive Brake and Pre-Safe systems from the larger cars. Of course, the C's interior was wholly restyled and borrowed heavily from its more upscale siblings. This C300 is equipped with SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Heated Front Seats, Garage door opener, Rain Sensing Wipers, Power Folding Mirrors, and Burl Walnut wood trim.  The C300 has been in California for its entire life. Lisa Canepa's previous car, continuously maintained by Canepa  Bruce Canepa decided to upgrade the C300, including lowering the suspension, AMG 18" wheels in Canepa "proprietary" magnesium graphite coating (process used in 959SC wheels). The C300 also received new Michelin sport tires 225/40/R18 in the front and 265/24/R18 for the rear, totaling over $8500 in upgrades.
