Rarity, distinction, and Hemi power make this 1953 Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe convertible instantly attractive.  After all, there is just something appealing about an upper-classic drop-top with cool features and a distinct personality.  It's believed there were less than 1,000 of these '53 New Yorker Deluxe convertibles ever made.  Oh yes, this has a rarity, especially when you think about how few are surviving nearly 70 years later.  So you are likely to be the only one showing up in one...even at a Mopar event.  More than just rarity, this has a terrific look of a premium drop-top.  The sheet metal looks good, the paint has a nice gloss, and the rear end looks as shapely as Cadillac's DeVille.  We are told a few stories of this car being hidden away for a few decades, and so not everything is perfect.  But the way the trim has a clean and complete appearance and the chrome bumper fit instantly give this car distinction.  After all, real wire wheels and wide whitewalls let you know this 1950s Mopar is a true cruiser.  While the black roof looks good against the pearl gray paint, you're going to like the look of it when you power the top down.  The interior keeps the steely gray to go with the black, but the real attraction is the distinct red inserts on the seats, doors, and dash.  We especially like the detailing here where the red is a comfy cloth insert on the seat with a button-top presentation, and the door panels are even upholstered to match.  You'll love the vintage-style details.  The AM radio is there for display, the steering wheel is intricately artful, and the courtesy light still greets you when you open the door. They will likely need some servicing and/or parts for ideal functioning, but they are part of a premium package that possibly gets the rarity of this one down to 1 in 10!  What will excite collectors the most is the presentation under the hood.  The 331 cubic-inch FirePower V8 is Chrysler's original Hemi engine.  It launched a long and powerful history at Chrysler, which earned it instant respect.  So it's great to have such a classic presentation, right down to the generator and FirePower valve covers.  You may want to take a little extra time to help unleash the full potential of a four-barrel Hemi V8, but it will be worth it.  After all, this Chrysler was made for cruising with features like the supple ride and power steering.  This Chrysler has a big barn find kind of vibe to it.  That means it has a lot of cool and classic details, but you will likely want to do some additional improvements to make it ideal. This triple-blue 1977 Chrysler Newport is a time capsule with the luxury of a big numbers-matching V8, room for everyone, a cool hardtop profile.  So it's an amazing total package for quite an affordable price.  The Wedgewood Blue paint is believed to be largely original, and while it's not perfect, it has a level of crispness that still lives up to Newport's luxury image. And this level of completeness is also seen in the brightwork, where the grille, bumpers, rocker trim, wheel trim, and headlight surrounds still have clean and bright quality. Plus, it retains all the right details -front the blue vinyl top to the fender skirts.  This was one of the most substantial cars Chrysler ever offered, so having the pillarless hardtop option gives you a ton of open space in the middle for a seriously cool profile.  Plus, Mopars were always made in fewer numbers compared to Ford and GM, and this even takes that rarity further.  The Newport was in the middle of the lineup, and the hardtop sedan was the most expensive option.  So Chrysler buyers tended to spend less for the smaller Lebaron or more for the New Yorker. Today, this survivor-style sedan will likely be the only one at just about any event you attend. Then again, the moment you use the power windows to drop down all the side glass on this unique hardtop sedan, we bet you'll instantly feel the need to hit the boulevard.    Because this is such a vintage machine, you'll love lifting the hood, so you can tell everyone this is the number-matching 400 cubic-inch V8.  This big block has a particularly stout reputation, and there's a four-barrel carburetor on top, so it continues to move this sedan with smooth confidence.  A supple ride, power steering, power brakes, front discs, and the numbers-matching three-speed automatic transmission all make this Chrysler a terrific classic cruiser.
