In 2009, for the first time in nearly 80 years, Bentley unveiled a new flagship designed in-house. Originally unveiled as a sedan, the Bentley Mulsanne for sale is powered by a 6.75-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 creating 505 hp. Designed as the epitome of luxury and craftsmanship, the 5,850 lb luxury car is available with 114 paint colors, 21 carpet selections, 24 leather hide options, nine wood veneers, and nearly unlimited custom combinations to suit your needs upon request. Rear seats were also available in either a two or three-seat option with a center console available. In spite of these extensive options and the sedan’s weight, it is capable of a 0-60 mph time of 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 184 mph.
For discerning individuals who weren’t satisfied with the wide options initially available, the company has released the Mulliner driving specification with increased interior options, including Bentley’s ‘knurled’ aluminum door handles and gear lever, drilled alloy foot pedals, and special edition alloy wheels. Following the introduction of the convertible and coupe have emerged as concepts. The Grand Convertible concept was unveiled in 2014, featuring a burlwood rear deck to cover the convertible top. Not yet in production, the Grand Convertible concept stands as an exclusive flagship cabriolet, bombastic and impressive as its name promises in its blue and silver livery.
In addition to the 2009 model specification, performance has increased in the 2014 Speed, which generates 530 hp and an increased top speed of 190 mph, all with the options and comfort of the original Mulsanne.

The family now includes three models: base, Speed, and Extended Wheelbase. Inside, the new sedan sports fine handcrafted wood, leather, and metal fittings. They will have full access to apps like Skype and Google play. Each tablet can also be removed and used away from the vehicle. As both a Brit and a Le Mans driver, I think that you have to have the right pedigree to call any car a 'Mulsanne.' That incredibly long stretch of public road that we get to race on each year at well over 200 mph is unique in this world, and once experienced is never forgotten. It is, therefore, completely fitting that the Mulsanne as their flagship car. Driving around LA you don’t exactly nip in and out of traffic as much as command it to move out of your way. The hood seems long and it takes a bit to get used to the dimensions of this magnificent luxury car. But once you do, the world seems to shrink, and you can begin to appreciate the adjustable suspension and how the engineers spent countless hours building athletic abilities. Perhaps the true link to the famous race in France comes when you hit the gas. The acceleration is outlandish for the mass, and if you had room, the 6.75-liter, 505 horsepower bi-turbo V-8 would swoosh you and your mates to a top speed of 185 mph.
As both the oldest and largest model offered in the current Bentley lineup, the Mulsanne is certainly overdue for an upgrade. Luckily, fans of this full-size sedan will be treated to several upgrades as the newest flagship model. One of the most highly anticipated features of the upgraded Mulsanne proves to be the inclusion of electronic components within the powertrain and the use of next-generation battery technology. Despite this vast leap into cutting-edge technology, it does not appear that Bentley will abandon the twin-turbo 6.8-liter V8 engine shared with many Rolls Royce vehicles. This powerful engine will instead mate to electric counterparts to further enhance the performance of the already robust Bentley Mulsanne.
