Each generation has seen extensive customization in the aftermarket with the most popular models being the blacked-out or platinum editions came murdered out from the factory. Limousine services prefer the blacked-out look for VIP transport while the platinum is popular with celebrities. If you were looking for a used Escalade for sale, a good start would be to look for a supercharged Escalade for sale by owner. It’s also quite easy to find a new Cadillac Escalade for sale on most Cadillac car lots. The price starts in the low $70,000s and quickly raises to $90,000 for the Escalade Premium Collection. Escalade was Cadillac’s unforeseen invasion of the full-size luxury market when it was first released in 1999. Powered by GM’s venerable 5.7-liter V8, it was the first SUV to offer Bose surround sound. Production lasted until mid-2000 when GM redesigned all full-size truck platforms. The public went wild and the aftermarket responded. Customized Escalades for athletes and celebrities alike so Cadillac spent 2001 making sure the next version was even more impressive.

The second generation debuted in 2002 with two body styles. A new ESV was the long-wheelbase model, and it was powered by a 6.0 liter V8 rated at 345 horsepower. It was the first production SUV with 20” wheels, and as a result, it sparked a war of attrition in wheel size. Base models were normal wheelbase and rear-wheel drive only. With a 5.3 liter engine, the lower trim levels made the Escalade price more affordable and brought new customers to the brand.

The durable body-on-frame design has stood the test of time, with many first and second-generation Escalades still on the road. But if you don’t plan on owning one for over a decade a lease is a popular option. A new SUV is a significant investment, but it will provide years of elegance and utility that can’t be matched.

The Platinum was introduced in 2004 with many new features. It had heated and cooled cup holders along with heated and ventilated first and second-row seating. HID headlights and platinum-specific 20” wheels were also part of the package.

A third model joined the lineup in late 2002 with the launch of the EXT. Instead of 3rd-row seating, the model came with a truck bed and an innovative mid-gate. A two-piece bulkhead behind the rear seats could be lowered to offer an eight-foot cargo box. Cadillac’s first Sport Utility truck, it had a hard tonneau cover consisting of three removable panels. Second row DVD entertainment was standard along with Bose surround sound.

An updated shape debuted in 2007 for all three body styles. A new 6.2 liter V8 was introduced with variable valve timing. It made 403 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque. For better fuel economy a new six-speed automatic transmission replaced the four-speed gearbox. Escalade Platinum returned in 2008 with LED headlights, magnetic ride control, embroidered leather, and burled walnut trim. The Escalade EXT was discontinued in 2013, leaving the standard wheelbase and Escalade ESV as the only two options. For the last year of the third generation, Cadillac released a new color for 2014: Midnight Plum Metallic.

To stay ahead of the competition the SUV was redesigned again for the 2015 model year. Generation IV began production in early 2014 at the Arlington Texas Assembly Plant. A new 6.2-liter engine featured direct injection and cylinder deactivation for better fuel economy. All 2015 models retained the six-speed automatic transmission. For the model year 2016, a new eight-speed automatic was introduced.

Cadillac 2021 Escalade Cadillac exceeds expectations with its next-generation Cadillac Escalade. The body remains recognizable as an Escalade with a full-size body-on-frame composition. Minor alterations have been made to the frame, like shifting from steel to aluminum, in an effort to shed weight. The switch decreases the weight of the flagship model by 300 pounds, which aids in allowing the twin-turbo 4.2-liter V8 engine to boast an improved output of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-foot of torque. A naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine and a hybrid version are also expected to be available options for the fifth-generation Escalade. Other upgrades to the 2021 Cadillac Escalade focus on tech upgrades, which are comparable to that of the Lincoln Navigator. An updated, much larger infotainment center is expected with the same rotary controller that is noted in many of the most recent Cadillac models.
