Since production has ended, we have a limited selection of Hummer H1 for sale and Hummer H1 Alpha by owner or dealerships, depending on timing and availability.

Originally dubbed as simply the Humvee, was built as a civilian version of the M998 Humvee developed by AM General for the military. Produced for the public from 1992 to 2006 in a range of body styles, the selling price increased from the 1992 base model’s cost of $40,500 to its top-of-the-line 2006 asking price of $150,975 for the H1 Alpha.

Boasting a stock ground clearance of 16 inches, thanks to the recessed driveline in a central horizontal column between the drivers’ and passengers’ seats, the lifted H1 for sale is capable of climbing a 22-inch wall and fording water up to 30 inches deep making this the ultimate 4wd vehicle.

With engine sizes varying over the years from a mere 5.7-liter gasoline option to the final 6.6-liter turbo diesel V8, the H1 has a history of rugged capability and the ability to put its power to the ground through three, four, and five-speed transmissions. The final 2006 model year yielded the Alpha series, which integrated a new Duramax diesel and Allison transmission, offering the best power and efficiency of the H1 line. Distributing higher torque than the previous 6.5-liter powerplant, the Duramax proved to be a more capable solution offroad, especially when paired with the Allison transmission’s lower gear ratios.

The open top H1 represents one of the widest street-legal vehicles in its run of production. At 7.2 feet, the H1 did fall within US guidelines to fit inside the regulation width of an eight-foot road lane. In spite of its truck-like characteristics, the H1 has an approximate turning radius of 26.5 feet, depending on year and configuration, which is below the average of most SUVs on the road at approximately 37 feet. This may make an H1 a realistic option for collectors with cramped quarters to maneuver.
