When BMW introduced the 8 Series in 1990, it was clear this wasn't just a grand tourer; it was a showcase of the brand's engineering and design ambitions. The 1993 BMW 850CSi stood at the top of the range, evolving the 850i into something far more purposeful. More than just a luxury coupe, the 850CSi was developed by BMW Motorsport, and it wore the distinction well. At the heart of the 850CSi was a naturally aspirated 5.6-litre V-12 engine, designated S70B56-a close relative to the unit that would later power the McLaren F1. Producing 375 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, it delivered effortless thrust through a standard six-speed manual gearbox, offering drivers precise control and engagement, uncommon for a car of its size and luxury. The chassis received extensive tuning, including quicker steering, stiffer suspension, a lower ride height, and rear-wheel steering via BMW's Active Kinematics Control system. The result was a surprisingly agile machine that blended long-haul comfort with true driving dynamics. Design-wise, the 850CSi carried the futuristic wedge-shaped silhouette of the E31, distinguished further by unique front and rear bumpers, quad exhaust tips, and subtle M badging. Inside, it was all BMW elegance-leather, real wood, and digital displays blended with analog tactility. With only 1,510 examples produced worldwide, the 850CSi remains a rare and sought-after modern classic. It wasn't just another luxury coupe; it was a V-12-powered statement from BMW that performance and sophistication could coexist in a bold new form.    A highly coveted and revolutionary European-specification example, this 1993 BMW 850CSi enjoyed time in France and Germany before being imported by marque enthusiasts to the United States in 2018. Documented on the BMW Classic Certificate, this 850CSi is finished in its factory original colors of 308 Brilliant Red over a special upholstery of 9990 Schwarz and Claypsorot and is believed to be one of just eight examples to bear this color combination of the 1,510 originally built. A resident of the Lone Star State since 2018, it has been superbly maintained and serviced, showing fewer than 132,000 km (82,000 miles), and is accompanied by a clean CARFAXÃÂ®. Documented by service records on file, $16,000 in servicing was invested between 2018 and 2022 and carried out by a BMW master technician of West Houston. Since then, this BMW has received a complete fluid flush, new radiator, fuel filter, battery, idler arm, and an extensive detailing and dry ice undercarriage treatment.    More than just a speeding red rocket with its smooth V-12 and six-speed manual gearbox, this BMW 850CSi is loaded with luxury options. Inlaid with a special plush leather and high-tech amenities that will make you feel like Gordon Gecko on his way to make the biggest deal on Wall Street, the cabin features heated bucket seats with lumbar support, dual-zone automatic climate control, an electric rear sunblind, an electric sunroof, an onboard computer, a BMW Business AM/FM/CD stereo linked to a rear trunk-mounted CD changer, and a HiFi loudspeaker system.
