The Lamborghini Miura for sale is one of 764 sports cars built between 1966 and 1973. It was the first supercar that featured a revolutionary rear mid-engine two-seater layout that has since been used as the standard for many high-performance sports cars and supercars. The P400 was designed against founder Ferruccio Lamborghini's wishes by the Lamborghini engineering team in their spare time and was the fastest production road car when it was released.

The sleek Miura, styled by Marcello Gandini, served as Lamborghini's flagship model until the polarizing Lamborghini Countach succeeded it in 1974. The team of engineers who worked tirelessly on the pet project that would become the Miura sought to create a road car with a racing pedigree that could offer unparalleled performance both on and off of the track.

The Lamborghini Miura was the first Lamborghini to include a transversely-mounted mid-engine layout that merged rather tightly with the transmission and differential, groundbreaking on several fronts. The P400’s design garnered a lot of buzz, with orders placed for the rolling chassis even before it had an exterior shell. When the Lamborghini Miura prototype went on display at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show, it did so without an engine! The engineers filled the compartment with ballast and locked it tight. Despite that, the car was the highlight of the show, and production was scheduled for the following year.

The Miura P400S, also called the Miura S was introduced in 1968, was updated with power windows, optional air conditioning, flashy chrome trim, an inline overhead console, rocker switches, larger intake manifolds, and notched trunk end space for more room in the trunk. Lamborghini produced about 338 Miura S, one of which was owned by the great Frank Sinatra.

The P400SV, or Lamborghini Miura SV for sale, was the last and most famous of the Miura lineup, introduced in 1971. It has a slightly more powerful engine thanks to some engine tweaks and the use of a split sump (in the final 96 out of 125 total SV manufactured) so that the gearbox and engine now received separate lubrication for the first time. Also, the SV lacks "eyelashes" around the headlights and included sporty new wide rear fenders to fit the new rear wheels comfortably.

The Lamborghini Miura set the bar quite high for all of the supercars that have followed in her wake. The passion project marked a turning point in Lamborghini design, and the Miura continues to define the company’s legacy. The iconic Lamborghini model was so pivotal in fact that to celebrate the Miura’s 50th anniversary, Lamborghini released the Aventador Miura Homage.
