If you are looking for dignified British transportation, your first consideration should be a Jaguar for sale. Starting out as a sidecar builder in 1922, the company has evolved to offer a wide array of luxury cars. The modern history of Jaguar Cars can be traced to a merger with British Leyland in 1968. They were nationalized from 1975 to 1984, and Ford acquired the brand in 1990. In 2008 it was sold along with Land Rover to Tata Motors.

With newfound capital and engineering resources, Jaguar has seen a renaissance in their offerings. The most popular have been the F-Type. Tracing its roots to the legendary E-Type, it has evolved into a 575 horsepower supercar. The state of the art in compact luxury can be found in the Jaguar XE. It is an aluminum sedan powered by a supercharged 3.0 liter V6. An eight-speed automatic sends 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. The middleweight model is the XF, powered by the same engine but featuring all wheel drive. If you demand the very best from your automobile, the venerable XJ is unbeatable.

If you are in the market for a pre-owned Jaguar, age is the primary determinant. Any V8 model from 1996 to 2001 should be avoided due to cylinder wall failures. From 1977 to 1990, the V12 models were equipped with Chevrolet’s Turbo 400 automatic transmission. It can be rebuilt in a few hours by novice enthusiasts and modified to handle 700 horsepower. This makes Chevy engine swaps common on older XJs because repairing the original engine is quite expensive. As always, make sure any used Jaguar includes all maintenance records and all recalls addressed. Take it to a British workshop for an inspection before the price is mentioned. Our dealers are ready to help you find the Jag of your dreams, so stay with us for all your automotive information.
