Britain strikes again by debuting the all-new Lotus Evora for sale. The latest installment, the Sport 410, features a noticeably lighter body, shedding a substantial 70kg (approximately 154 pounds) with a number of standard carbon fiber components. The new sports car shares, “the 410 hp supercharged engine with the track-bred 3-Eleven” and sails from 0-60 in 4.0 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph.

Still envisioned for everyday driving, the Sport 410 maintains its “excellent road manners” and refinery fit for the daily driver. Thanks to the lighter weight and increase in power, the Sport 410 completed a lap in a mere one minute and 28 seconds on the Hethel– the company’s test track. The combination of mass reduction and power also leads to better handling and therefore, a better driver experience.

In 2011, the used Evora was the least extreme and most user-friendly car that you could buy in America. Now, it is the only one you can buy in America. With the quick and nimble Exige and Elise being axed due to safety regulations, Lotus will only have one car in the showroom. Albeit, it will offer that one car in three different flavors. There is the standard 276-hp base and the sportier 345-hp S. Both cars come standard with a six-speed manual transmission. An automatic option, dubbed Intelligent Precision Shift or IPS, is available with the standard engine but adds a couple of tenths of a second to the performance numbers. Besides being slightly quicker to 60 mph from a standstill, the Evora S also offers a Sport button for heightened throttle responses, higher stability-control intervention levels, and a throatier exhaust sound. In all, it will have to singlehandedly compete on its own until the Esprit reappears in 2013 as a 2014 model.
