Look somewhat like the brand’s namesake from World War 2, it is a creature of a different character. Produced from 1986 to the present in three generations, the Wrangler Sport was designed and originally built to fill the gap from the American Motors Corporation ceasing production of the CJ-7’s in 1986. Shortly after, the Chrysler Corporation bought the company and began production. Offered with either a 2.5-liter, inline four-cylinder engine generating 120 hp from a 4.0-liter inline-six pushing out 181 hp, the SUV became significantly more powerful and smooth.

The Rubicon, named after the famed trail in the Sierra Nevadas, features 16-inch alloy wheels, beefed-up axles, four-wheel drivetrain, diamond plate rocker panels, and other extras to improve its off-road worthiness and aesthetic appeal.   The Unlimited trim level includes the drivetrain improvements mentioned above, as well as a 10 inch stretch in the chassis to improve cargo and passenger space. The Sahara Edition, considered by many to be the top of the top of the line, came standard with most of the extras available: fog lights, extended body-colored fender flares, air-conditioning, exclusive high-backed bucket seats, and upgraded wheels.
