Is there a more aptly named community in the world than Star Island? The prestigious enclave, a few steps across the causeway from glitzy South Beach in Miami, is a favored home spot for all manner of celebrities. Madonna, Shaquille O'Neal, Alex Rodriguez, Will Smith, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Sean Combs, Sylvester Stallone, Lenny Kravitz and Rosie O'Donnell all live, or have lived, on Star Island. Al Capone and Harvey Firestone were past residents. Sometimes it's ahome itself that's the star, such as the house that provided the location for the film Scarface.
You want to talk exclusive? There are only 35 home sites on the island.
Great Estates Broker Sylvia Fragos, who handles a lot of real estate dealings for celebs, currently has a listing on Star Island that's owned by a famed shoe designing couple (who shall remain nameless, discretion being paramount in celebrity real estate dynamics). It's called Villa Stella, and when you step through the gates you are transported into a sanctuary, where the first thing you notice is the color: a vivid, brilliant blue.

"It's the only one of that color in Miami," Sylvia says. "There's a flow of energy through the house that starts with the front gate, followed by a keyhole shape through the front door, which flows through the interior and out to the keyhole-shaped pool. The brilliant blue color signified to the owners a life energy tying in with the water and the sky. Stella means 'star' in Italian."

The stunning estate's interior is eclectic but cohesive -- a mixture of Balinese, Southwestern, African and other motifs that beautifully complement the neutral color palette. Exotic bu consummately livable. "Among the outstanding features are the hand-painted skylights and murals that look like inlaid marble on the ceiling," Sylvia says. "You can stare at them and swear it's stoned ingrained in the wall."

Villa Stella's listing at $24 million is not a trial balloon. "The owners are moving to the West Coast," Sylvia says. "It's definitely not a 'let's put it on sale and see what happens' scenario."
