World’s highest luxury hotel to open in Shanghai in 2014

The establishment, a new brand of Shanghai Jin Jiang International Hotels Group Co. Ltd., will span the 84th to 110th floors of the Shanghai Tower, which will rise 632m or 121 storeys.

The Shanghai Tower J Hotel will feature 258 luxury guestrooms with the lobby on the 101st floor. The Shanghai Tower is located in the central business district of Lujiazui, Pudong district, near the Shanghai World Financial Center and Jin Mao Tower. Construction for the hotel began in 2008.

The hotel is being built to exceed Forbes (Mobil)'s Five-Star, AAA's Five-Diamond, the Platinum Five-Star in China, and the Green Hotel standards.

According to Jin Jiang Hotels, the hotel will surpass the Park Hyatt Shanghai to become the world's highest luxury hotel when it opens in late 2014 or early 2015.

It will also overtake the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong expected to open in 2011.

The Shanghai Tower will also be the world’s second-tallest building after the 828m-high Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
