Rosedale Toronto Estate- Toronto Ontario Canada

For decades the neighborhood of Rosedale has attracted some of Toronto’s most affluent residents with its peaceful ravines and winding parklands. A short drive from the high end shopping and dining districts of downtown Toronto, its convenient location has only added to its appeal.

Rosedale is teeming with historical charm, present in the red brick heritage homes, which line its streets. Framed by lush green landscaping, each home maintains a unique charm, distinguishing itself from the rest. Among these idyllic residences is the home at 27 South Drive.

Like its neighboring Rosedale homes, this estate maintains all of the historical charm with its gorgeous redbrick exterior, however, the interior has been renovated, no detail having gone unnoticed.

The main floor boasts an open concept kitchen and family room, which opens up into the backyard, allowing for natural light to fill the stunning 9.5-foot-ceilings and grand foyer. The 5,050-square-foot floor plan also maintains six bedrooms and six bathrooms, with the option to convert the sixth bedroom into a beautiful 3rd floor office space with incredible Western ravine views and a walkout to a large deck.

The master bedroom has been redone to include his and her closets and a spa like ensuite. It also has a private balcony with stunning views of the ravine.

The ravine provides a picturesque backdrop at all hours, but it’s glowing sunsets are truly breathtaking. Residents can enjoy their spectacular view from various private balconies as well as the backyard, complete with an outdoor TV area and gas fireplace.

Aside from its close proximity to Toronto, this Rosedale estate is also near several of the area’s best schools, making it perfect for families. Residents also have access to many popular Toronto destinations through the subway stop, which is just a two or three minute walk from their front door.

From the rich heritage and elegantly landscaped properties to the stunning natural beauty, there is truly no other neighborhood that so flawlessly combines convenience and elegance quite like Rosedale

Contemporary Southern Charm in Asheville

The elite area of South Asheville is anchored between two popular area attractions — the prominent Biltmore Estate, an expansive private estate built by the Vanderbilt family in the 1890s, and Biltmore Park Town Square, a mecca for fine dining, shopping and entertaining. Many Asheville residents also enjoy utilizing annual passes to the Biltmore Estate where they can play in the Estate’s 8,000-acre backyard, hike or bike the trails, horseback ride or relax on the grounds for an afternoon picnic. The estate also offers tours of the Biltmore House, grounds and winery.

The Ramble is a premiere, gated community developed on 1,000 acres of land that was originally part of the Biltmore Estate and is the most recent community developed by Biltmore Farms. Centrally located in Asheville, The Ramble is minutes from city amenities while providing a feeling of seclusion and privacy. Within The Ramble are miles of wondrous trails, Long Meadow Park, historic Buck Spring Cabin, a Living Well Center with saline pool and workout facility and a 24-hour staffed gatehouse.

"I have personally built three luxury homes in the area, including one in The Ramble.  My history of working with architects, builders and local artisans has helped me develop a thorough working knowledge of finishes, flow and floor plans that is invaluable to my clients,” says Clary McCall, Residential Broker Associate for Beverly-Hanks & Associates Realtors in South Asheville. McCall is able to speak with genuine enthusiasm to prospective residents since she currently resides in the community.

Located at 21 Nethermead Drive in The Ramble is a contemporarystyle home by Carlton Architecture. This three-level home has graced the covers of Carolina Home and Garden Magazine and WNC Magazine. It was also the recipient of the AIA North Carolina 2013 Honor Award, a top recognition reward for North Carolina architects acknowledging design expertise and variety.

In addition to the prestigious recognition, this 4,800-square-foot home is settled on 0.88 acres of land and exudes a feeling of luxury and comfort with the incredible woodwork, stone patio with fireplace and outdoor kitchen, fenced backyard with evergreen privacy, and an elevator to all three floors. A showing of this property can be scheduled with listing agent Clary McCall.

Asheville, North Carolina Estate

By Lauryn Howell

When he set out to build the iconic Biltmore Estate, George Vanderbilt wanted to create something reminiscent of the castles of France, but what he desired perhaps more than a beautiful residence was the perfect location. For this, Vanderbilt knew he needed to look no further than Asheville, North Carolina.

While the estate remains today, the land was eventually divided, with a full 1,000 acres of his favorite walking lands now serving as the site of one of Asheville’s most prestigious communities, The Ramble. Once completed this private, gated community will include 500 homes, private walking trails and a Living Well center complete with fitness facilities and pool.

Built in 2007, this 3,928 square foot estate maintains five bedrooms with four and a half baths. From the vaulted ceilings with wood beams and granite countertops to the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, no detail was spared. The home also boasts a gourmet kitchen, covered deck, sunroom and theater/exercise room. All located in a tranquil setting with thoughtful outdoor spaces overlooking green space with stream and walking trail.

The Ramble sits in an ideal location, with downtown Asheville and the more historically preserved Biltmore Village both minutes away from its gates.

Asheville in itself is also incredibly unique. The area offers a deeply rich and diverse culture of art and fine dining within its historic borders.

Whether you consider yourself a nature enthusiast or an art connoisseur, you’ll find an abundance of amenities to cater to your preferred lifestyle all within the city limits.

This property is represented by Miriam McKinney, Asheville native and Real Estate Broker with Beverly-Hanks & Associates. She has been able to employ her knowledge of the area and 14 years of professional real estate experience to become one of the top producing and most highly sought after agents in Asheville.

Miriam has many fantastic listings. However, the home at 76 Brookline Drive gives discerning buyers the opportunity to call the iconic community of The Ramble home.

An Apple a Day in Hendersonville, North Carolina

Steve Dozier has traveled 48 of our 50 states and hasn't found a better place to live than Hendersonville, North Carolina. "I've lived here 21-years and there's no better place to raise a family," says the broker associate with powerhouse Beverly-Hanks & Associates Realtors.

This suburb of artsy Ashville has a main street lined with charming shops and restaurants and historic homes dating to the late 19th century.  It's a mountain place, but the climate is temperate, says Dozier. "In Florida there's one season, in the north there's winter and summer. Here there are four distinct seasons, but very little snow, no tornados and no hurricanes."

Around Labor Day the population of 13,000 swells to 250,000 for the Apple Festival -- Hendersonville boasts 70% of the nation's apple production. "Every apple you can think of grows around here," says Dozier, who's highly involved with the community and its activities.

You can take a bite of the little apple with a 5400 square foot beauty he's offering. Sitting on 1.57 manicured acres, there's a terraced backyard and a front porch for rocking and enjoying the trickling waterfall that splashes into a stone Koi pond.

"Everyone here is looking for views and gourmet kitchens," he says with a laugh. This home has both. The kitchen features every bell and whistle, down to the pot filler behind the stove, and the views— from every deck and window—go on forever.

The kitchen opens to the great room, a gorgeous deck and a screened room for a fabulous sweep of indoor and outdoor entertaining space. The four bedroom, three and a half bath home features a fantastic game and media center with a movie theater concession stand and a popcorn machine.

It's a home made for enjoyment, as Dozier puts it, "in the Best Small Town in America."

History, Hospitality and Horses

By Natalie Friedmann

“History, hospitality and horses describes Aiken, South Carolina so perfectly,” says Melissa Major, Broker in Charge at Carolina Real Estate Company.

Rich in history, Aiken was once a “winter colony” — a retreat for the wealthy when they needed to escape bitter cold winters. It is no surprise that with the area’s perfect climate, pine scented breezes and an abundance of spring water the town once served as a health resort. Wealthy horse enthusiasts soon discovered this quaint town, and after bringing their horses to Aiken for pleasure and training, they quickly fell in love and established luxurious cottage homes and stables - most of which are still standing today.

“Aiken is one of the country’s most important equestrian centers with facilities for trail riding, fox hunting, hunter-jumper events, race tracks, steeplechasing and polo,” Courtney Conger, Realtor® and owner of Carolina Real Estate Company. The temperate climate allows for year-round training of horses of all disciplines. The largest urban forest in the country, The Hitchcock Woods, is at the heart of Aiken and amid the 2,200 acres are nearly 70 miles of trails that are graced by equestrians, hikers, joggers and even dog walkers.

At the entrance of The Hitchcock Woods on Laurens Street, SW is a grand Winter Colony residence dating back to 1937. The stately, 7000-square-foot brick home is a true beauty, reminiscent of a European country estate. The home has polished oak floors, high ceilings and many period details throughout. The grounds of the home are breathtaking. "The charming flagstone-floored porch off the living room overlooks a sparkling gunite pool and over 4.5 acres of spectacular lawns shaded by ancient live oaks and pines interspersed with specimen trees imported from Europe and Asia,” says Conger. This incredible historic Aiken estate is offered exclusively by the Carolina Company at $1,799,000 and may be seen by appointment only with the listing agent.

In addition to being a desirable equestrian destination and home to stunning and luxurious, historical estates, Aiken also offers residents the chance to indulge in world class golf and tennis as well as excellent shopping and dining and a variety of cultural activities.

Comfort and Luxury in Suburban Atlanta

By Natalie Friedmann

As a major metropolitan area, Atlanta might bring to mind the hustle and bustle of a big city, but the charm of the area spans beyond any of those stereotypes — some would even say one must only look just outside the city lines into the cozy city suburbs.

"Due to the vast expanse of companies headquartered in Atlanta, the city and surrounding areas receive quite a bit of real estate traffic from the northeast due to corporate relocation,” says Ed Short, REALTOR® with Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate Metro Brokers, specializing in the north metro Atlanta area. The area has much to offer its residents from fine dining and various happenings at the renowned Fox Theatre to the nearby mountains and picturesque Lake Lanier.

In addition to the amenities, the north metro Atlanta area boasts some luxurious properties—one of which is located at 13210 Owens Way in Milton, Ga. This beautiful estate is located on 1.66 acres. The elegant brick and stone exterior sets the tone for the equally elegant interior, which offers a sprawling open floor plan. The grand, two-story foyer offers inviting, warm hardwood floors.

Beyond the foyer is a banquet-sized formal dining room and professional chef’s kitchen. There is a keeping room off the kitchen with coffered ceiling, built-in bookcases and stacked stone fireplace. A guest bedroom with a private, full bath is on the main level.

The master retreat is breathtaking with a trey ceiling, morning bar with refrigerator and sitting room with fireplace and built-in bookcase. The en suite master bathroom exudes a spa-like atmosphere.
A main attraction of this property is the finished, walk-out terrace level complete with full bath, two bonus rooms, stacked stone fireplace and a full wet bar. There is a patio off the terrace level with an outdoor fireplace and a brick paved deck off the master bedroom, both of which overlook the private, wooded yard. This property is listed with Ed Short for $1.45 million.

Atlanta's Southern Comforts

By Stephanie Cavanaugh

Ask about Atlanta and the accolades tumble. "We enjoy a temperate climate," says realtor Shawn Hollenkamp with Better Homes and GardensTM Real Estate Metro Brokers. "There's no true winter and snow's a rarity.  There's rich culture, historic homes, thirty-plus public and private golf courses. There's Lake Lanier and Lake Altoona for swimming, boating and skiing. Festivals? You name it there's something going on at all times; football and baseball and tennis and theater downtown; and Six Flags amusement park.    Low property and state taxes..."

Hollenkamp, a top one percent agent and certified relocation specialist with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers, specializes in the "northern arc" of Atlanta, including Fulton, Cherokee, and Cobb counties. Each, he says, has "a different flavor."

Fulton makes up much of Atlanta itself. North Atlanta, he says, "is very affluent, a mix of equestrian estates and country club communities, with homes above $500,000. Closer to downtown prices quickly rise and buyers can find condos and homes at various price points."

Cherokee County is more up and coming, with very nice new communities but a lot of undeveloped land. It's proximity to major employment centers makes it very attractive to home buyers.

Affluent Cobb County, on the outskirts of Atlanta, is "a touch of country in the city, with city amenities, top schools, and many homesteads with multiple acres."

A traditional two story rebuild home in the Cobb County town of Smyrna, located in the Forest Hill Subdivision for example, features five bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and basement.  The 3,500 square foot home priced at $599,000 sits on one third of an acre and is walking distance to the Smyrna Market and park and minutes to the new Braves Stadium.

Atlanta's homes may be splendid, and the activities vast, but what Hollenkamp likes best are the people, "They aren't in such a big hurry. There's a real southern charm."

Florida's Ultimate Gulf Front Home- Rosemary Beach

There are but two homes in the Rosemary Beach® community that occupy lots 115 feet wide and are directly on the Gulf of Mexico. Known as, "Founders Lots"  these are the first properties to be built in this magnificent, neo-traditional planned community, which rose from the sands of the Emerald Coast of Florida twenty years ago.

Of the pair, the extraordinary compound designed by Bobby McAlpine and known as Beluga holds pride of place. "It's the ultimate Gulf front home, setting the standard for future construction," says Linda Miller, broker at Rosemary Beach Realty. "When you walk into this oasis it's like you're on the beach," says Miller. With its rare elevation, there are direct, unobstructed gulf views from the first floor. The beach can be seen from every room. From the second floor gazebo the gulf views are panoramic, a fifty mile vista to the east and west.

Completely renovated in 2011, the 4,520 square foot home has an expansive great room with a gas fireplace, pickled wood floors and robin's egg blue ceilings of Pecky Cypress. This fabulous space opens to a marble dining bar, which seats eight and a gourmet kitchen with appliances from Bosch and Subzero.  Step out from here to a sublimely peaceful and private waterfront courtyard with jetted pool flanked by outdoor relaxation and dining areas.

The five bedroom, six bath retreat offers first floor guest suites with private entrances onto the courtyard. Additionally, the home offers a completely separate carriage house with two-car parking below and a fully equipped one-bedroom apartment above.

On the quieter, eastern side of town, you can walk to Main Street for dinner, but once inside the gates it's private. "Urban living -- but not," says Miller. "You can enjoy the convenience and synergy of downtown life, with total seclusion a few blocks away."

"It was named Beluga for the finest caviar," says Miller. One might also call it a whale of a wonderful retreat.

Spanning more than 5,500 square feet, this Cape-Cod style home features modern accents including a striking, three-story tower that brings dramatic height and sophistication to its serene setting. The home offers expansive windows that open to views of the Pacific Ocean and Wilshire corridor along with ample outdoor entertaining space.

“This house is the essence of California living, ushering in year-round sunlight through expansive windows and grand ceilings,” said Adam Rosenfeld, founding partner at Mercer Vine and one of the property’s listing agents. “Prestigious beyond its views of Los Angeles and the coast, the home brings with it a sense of privacy, tucked away from the bustle of the city in the tranquility of Beverly Hills.”

Quietly situated on nearly a half acre, cul-de-sac lot with exquisite adjacent estates, the five-bedroom, five-bathroom house was originally built in 1989 and is flanked by a stunningly landscaped yard, complete with a pool and spa.

On the home’s main floor, the sun-filled kitchen opens into the dining room, and the living room guides guests out to private patios and a viewing deck, creating a flow that is seamless from one room to the next.
