It might seem unlikely timing, but four years ago, on the heels of the real estate fracas, Mike McCumber and Tim Savage opened the doors to Gulf Coast International Properties, a boutique luxury real estate firm specializing in high-end, water- and beach-front properties.
The partners, who had known each other for a decade, felt that "traditional real estate companies weren't offering the services or marketing programs people were looking for in the Naples real estate market," Savage says.
Gulf Coast flew in a new direction, with exceptional, personalized care. "More like advisors than selling agents -- a concierge service," McCumber explains. They combined that care with a strong Internet presence, rare at the time in Naples.
"We still invest in print advertising, there’ll always be an interest in pretty pictures," says Savage. "But the future of real estate marketing and sales is in the digital space. Getting our properties in front of a guy sitting at a cafe in Toronto, looking at his tablet or smartphone. With print, there is a limited distribution, a shelf-life, a static nature to the information. Through our website, www.gcipnaples.com, and our strategic global online partnerships, like www.Invidiata.com in Oakville, ON, our properties are accessible anywhere at anytime.”
Unlike traditional firms, which tend to nurture solo stars, the partners and the company's agents work as a team, in a discreet collaboration that brings agents, buyers and properties together. "We do more large deals in the conference room than through the MLS," says McCumber.
The company's primary focus is Naples, FL, with its beautiful waterways, magnificent beaches, roughly 70 golf courses and a more casual sophistication. It’s an area that has long been attractive to well-to-do mid-westerners who prefer the turquoise serenity of boating on the placid Gulf of Mexico to navigating the Atlantic's tumult.
"It's much like Palm Beach, but more low-key," Savage says. "They wear flip flops -- and drive the Ferrari to buy groceries."
Located at the southern tip of Naples lies the uber-luxury community of Port Royal. Here, residents enjoy membership in the Port Royal Club with its world-class fitness center, Hydro-grid tennis courts, large beach-side pool, and charming clubhouse originally built in the late ‘50s.
Now showing: A magnificent three-story, five bedroom retreat featuring a two-bedroom guesthouse, pool, and exquisite grounds rolling down to 125 feet of pristine, sugar sand beach located in Port Royal.
Enough to lure any Canadian from the bistro down to the sunshine and onto the sands of Naples, Florida.
