Mountain Sky Properties in Virginia

The pristine blue skies and mountainside views make the Virginia hillsides an enticing and inviting place to live. With so many beautiful communities to choose from, having a knowledgeable and seasoned real estate agent makes all the difference.

Mountain Sky Properties, an agency servicing twelve counties in Virginia, has unprecedented knowledge of the Virginia terrain and what each area offers to it’s residents.

“We have full-time, career agents and three offices to serve twelve counties. And we have a full-time marketing director, web developer and professional photographer on staff to make sure all of our listings get the exposure they deserve.” says the company’s founder, Cindy Stuart. Mountain Sky was started in 2006 and two additional offices were opened in 2010. The agency is full-service and belongs to two Boards of Realtors; Southwest Virginia and the New River Valley.

Whether you are looking for a vacation home along the Blue Ridge Parkway, a hunting retreat that joins the Jefferson National Forest, lakefront home on Claytor Lake, farm with endless pasture land, horse property within minutes of several horse trails or a single family home in the fast pace market of Blacksburg, Mountain Sky Properties is here to help you with all of your real estate needs.

Many of the communities they serve still have that small town charm that can be so hard to find in the 21st century. "We strive to offer the the face to face service of a small town company while taking full advantage of the technology capabilities of a major corporation."

One of their listings that really caught our eye was in Rocky Gap, Virginia, which features over 7000-square-feet of floor space situated on 269 acres. On the property, the estate features two ponds and a creek with an old grist mill. The home is equipped with eight bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. A very unique feature is that over 5000 square feet of living space reside on one level, making that level fully self-sustaining. The home is priced at $949,999.

Get Away in Chesapeake Bay

Few places can match the natural splendor offered in Virginia Beach, located at the Southeastern entrance to the Chesapeake Bay.  With over 30 miles of shoreline and 70 miles of scenic waterways, Virginia Beach is a prime spot for waterfront properties, whether you are searching for a single family home, a condominium or land to build your dream home.

"While many parts of the country have beautifully constructed homes, few have the number of gorgeous sites on bays, rivers and the oceanfront as Virginia Beach has. With its relaxing lifestyle and quality of life, it is a great place to live," says West.

Aside from the natural beauty, the location of Virginia Beach itself is ideal.  It is close enough to Williamsburg and Jamestown for a day trip, where one can visit many historical sites and Busch Gardens. Popular weekend trips include Virginia's wine country and the slopes of Wintergreen ski resort.

In addition to enjoying all types of boating, fishing and water sports, there are many opportunities for hiking, camping and biking.  First Landing State Park and False Cape State Park are great areas for these activities.

Associate Broker and native of the area, Jeanne Westwith RE/MAX Allianceis a fabulous resource for both buyers and sellers.  She has been specializing in waterfront properties for over 35 years and has sold some of the most beautiful properties in the area.

Saint Vincent and The Grenadines: A Caribbean Gem

By Nicole Slaughter-Graham

Nestled within the glittering Caribbean Sea sits a sparkling, hidden gem known as St. Vincent and the Grenadine. This chain of 32 lush, tropical islands hosts an abundance of natural beauty from an active volcano to Lush greenery, tropical rain forest, mountainous landscapes adorned with waterfalls and an abundance of tropical fruits and flowering plants.

Incredible aquatic life, colorful coral and perfect white-sand beaches, which make the Caribbean an appealing vacation hub, offer residents the feeling of endless vacation.  In fact, a few vacationers who have had the opportunity to visit the Grenadines find the area so enticing, they move there permanently.

Barbara Eardley, the RE/MAX Broker, was one of those people. “We moved here from Texas.  My husband and I were on vacation and when we came to the Grenadines, we instantly fell in love. It’s

like nothing I’ve ever seen before.”Now, Eardley helps make the dream of living in the Grenadines a reality for potential residents. Later this year , the new Argyle  international airport located on the main island of Saint Vincent is due to open. This will make The Grenadines more easily accessible. “I have no doubt this will be one of the most sought after tourist destination in the Caribbean,” says Eardley. For now though, The Grenadines remain a true hidden diamond, offering exquisite scenery and the feeling of being on a permanent vacation for those who have been fortunate enough to call SVG home.

This Democratic nation is 133 square miles of beautiful Caribbean expanse rich in culture and natural beauty. Of the 32 islands, nine are inhabited. The island chain is well known to royalty and the rich and famous alike. Esteemed members of the Royal Family and many celebrities have taken refuge on the Grenadine island of Mustique, the “playground of the elite.”

St. Vincent and The Grenadines offer luxury living and incredible value to potential residents. “This is a great time to invest in St. Vincent and The Grenadines,” Eardley states. “Being less known than the other Caribbean Islands, the real estate values are relatively low, the lifestyle wonderful.”

An Extra Edge in Houston's Luxury Market

By Nicole Slaughter-Graham

With a robust, thriving luxury real estate market, the Houston, Texas area has long attracted some of the finest REALTORS® and affiliates in the industry.

The area offers the trifecta when it comes to what REALTORS® crave: an abundance of luxury properties, the right clientele and resources. One such resource is the Greater Houston Luxury Home Connection, an organization which brings together industry professionals. The organization provides monthly networking, education and access to an entire network of support.

2016 marks the 10th anniversary of the organization, which will be celebrated by members in the summer. Carrie Ousley, one of the original members of the group, has been hosting  the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing Training classes, which are a requirement for membership. “The designations offered through the class are nationally and internationally recognized,” she states in an interview. “Associating with this organization and working toward and/or having the “Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist” designation, helps brand the REALTORS® in the Luxury Market.”

The many networking opportunities have kept Weldon Rigby involved for 10 years as well. “We decided we wanted to have a monthly luncheon where we could exchange ideas, and it’s turned into a great networking opportunity,” he states. “All the folks in our group have undergone extensive training on luxury products and practices, and if I need something, I can call any of them.” This year, the organization has seen its largest member base since the group’s inception, which provides REALTORS® and affiliates with even more resources and networking opportunities.

David Young, another original member notes the hard work of the group’s board, “Our board, which was set up about four years ago, worked tirelessly to increase membership and reach out. It’s made all the difference.”

When it comes to providing a unique and ultimately unprecedented resource for REALTORS® , the Greater Houston Luxury Home Connection has Houston, Texas covered.

Pristine, Private Luxury at Montecito Beach Village- Huatulco, Mexico

By Nicole Slaughter-Graham

Located in the Green Globe and Earth Check award-winning Bahías of Huatulco, on the Southern Pacific Coast of Mexico, Montecito Beach Village embodies the best Mexico has to offer. Building off the regions incredible natural beauty this sustainable development integrates elegant architecture and style with cultural flavor.

Montecito’s commitment to sustainable development and the rich local culture of the region seamlessly blend with their Villa’s open air architecture and hand crafted interiors. With salt-water pools, LED lighting and over 100 solar panels, this unique community offers a low density, low impact approach to luxurious coastal living.

“What’s most important for people to understand is that our philosophy is about integrating the human experience with the natural environment,” says Greg Glassman, Director of Montecito Beach Village. “We harmonize the natural characteristics of the land and the culture.” Local craftsmen demonstrate and explain their art to residents in the community amphitheater. The community’s restaurants and activities reflect the local flavor.

With the original master plan and prototypes designed by the famed Mexican architect, Diego VillasenŠ∑Čor, Montecito Beach Village envelopes residents in an experiential living environment. Each Villa recognizes and respects natural water runoffs, the sun tracks and cross ventilation, making the appointments a luxurious haven within a tropical paradise. This boutique and private community resides on twelve breathtaking oceanfront acres and will accommodate 28 full ownership Villas of which 11 have already been sold and completed. The property encompasses two pristine beaches, a fitness center, an open air amphitheater, a beach club, a welcome center and a Hilltop Lagoon & Lounge.

The spirit of Montecito is felt in its many details. Palapa roofs are woven on-site and carpentry is handcrafted from the highest quality of local tropical woods. The community is professionally managed and boasts a variety of services and amenities ranging from concierge service and home maintenances to private chefs and housekeeping.

“It’s very difficult to transmit the quality and essence of Montecito with pictures,” states Glassman. “The pictures look great but the sensory reality is so much better.” With both sale and rental opportunities available to contemplate Montecito is worth a first hand experience. Many proclaim it to have no equal.

Contemporary Southern Charm in Asheville

The elite area of South Asheville is anchored between two popular area attractions — the prominent Biltmore Estate, an expansive private estate built by the Vanderbilt family in the 1890s, and Biltmore Park Town Square, a mecca for fine dining, shopping and entertaining. Many Asheville residents also enjoy utilizing annual passes to the Biltmore Estate where they can play in the Estate’s 8,000-acre backyard, hike or bike the trails, horseback ride or relax on the grounds for an afternoon picnic. The estate also offers tours of the Biltmore House, grounds and winery.

Centrally located in Asheville, The Ramble is minutes from city amenities while providing a feeling of seclusion and privacy. Within The Ramble are miles of wondrous trails, Long Meadow Park, historic Buck Spring Cabin, a Living Well Center with saline pool and workout facility and a 24-hour staffed gatehouse.

"I have personally built three luxury homes in the area, including one in The Ramble.  My history of working with architects, builders and local artisans has helped me develop a thorough working knowledge of finishes, flow and floor plans that is invaluable to my clients,” says Clary McCall, Residential Broker Associate for Beverly-Hanks & Associates Realtors in South Asheville. McCall is able to speak with genuine enthusiasm to prospective residents since she currently resides in the community.

Asheville, North Carolina Estate

By Lauryn Howell

When he set out to build the iconic Biltmore Estate, George Vanderbilt wanted to create something reminiscent of the castles of France, but what he desired perhaps more than a beautiful residence was the perfect location. For this, Vanderbilt knew he needed to look no further than Asheville, North Carolina.

While the estate remains today, the land was eventually divided, with a full 1,000 acres of his favorite walking lands now serving as the site of one of Asheville’s most prestigious communities, The Ramble. Once completed this private, gated community will include 500 homes, private walking trails and a Living Well center complete with fitness facilities and pool.

Built in 2007, this 3,928 square foot estate maintains five bedrooms with four and a half baths. From the vaulted ceilings with wood beams and granite countertops to the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, no detail was spared. The home also boasts a gourmet kitchen, covered deck, sunroom and theater/exercise room. All located in a tranquil setting with thoughtful outdoor spaces overlooking green space with stream and walking trail.

The Ramble sits in an ideal location, with downtown Asheville and the more historically preserved Biltmore Village both minutes away from its gates.

Asheville in itself is also incredibly unique. The area offers a deeply rich and diverse culture of art and fine dining within its historic borders.

Whether you consider yourself a nature enthusiast or an art connoisseur, you’ll find an abundance of amenities to cater to your preferred lifestyle all within the city limits.

This property is represented by Miriam McKinney, Asheville native and Real Estate Broker with Beverly-Hanks & Associates. She has been able to employ her knowledge of the area and 14 years of professional real estate experience to become one of the top producing and most highly sought after agents in Asheville.

Miriam has many fantastic listings. However, the home at 76 Brookline Drive gives discerning buyers the opportunity to call the iconic community of The Ramble home.

An Apple a Day in Hendersonville, North Carolina

Steve Dozier has traveled 48 of our 50 states and hasn't found a better place to live than Hendersonville, North Carolina. "I've lived here 21-years and there's no better place to raise a family," says the broker associate with powerhouse Beverly-Hanks & Associates Realtors.

This suburb of artsy Ashville has a main street lined with charming shops and restaurants and historic homes dating to the late 19th century.  It's a mountain place, but the climate is temperate, says Dozier. "In Florida there's one season, in the north there's winter and summer. Here there are four distinct seasons, but very little snow, no tornados and no hurricanes."

Around Labor Day the population of 13,000 swells to 250,000 for the Apple Festival -- Hendersonville boasts 70% of the nation's apple production. "Every apple you can think of grows around here," says Dozier, who's highly involved with the community and its activities.

You can take a bite of the little apple with a 5400 square foot beauty he's offering. Sitting on 1.57 manicured acres, there's a terraced backyard and a front porch for rocking and enjoying the trickling waterfall that splashes into a stone Koi pond.

"Everyone here is looking for views and gourmet kitchens," he says with a laugh. This home has both. The kitchen features every bell and whistle, down to the pot filler behind the stove, and the views— from every deck and window—go on forever.

The kitchen opens to the great room, a gorgeous deck and a screened room for a fabulous sweep of indoor and outdoor entertaining space. The four bedroom, three and a half bath home features a fantastic game and media center with a movie theater concession stand and a popcorn machine.

It's a home made for enjoyment, as Dozier puts it, "in the Best Small Town in America."
