Aston Martin gained wide-spread recognition after James Bond hit the big screen
in a DB. Since that time, Aston Martin automobiles have continued to sell well,
despite the company having a fair share of struggles. Aston Martin has been passed
from one owner to the next for almost two decades. Despite changing ownership, its
automobiles are currently the best they have ever been. Aston Martins have held
a special interest to car collectors from around the world since the company’s founding
in 1913. Some of new cars include the DBS, the DB9, and the Vantage V-8. The Rapide
is one automobile for sale that was just recently introduced.
The Vantage is the least expensive model in the Aston Martin line. The car was orignially
equipped with a 4.3-liter V-8 making 380 hp. It was replaced in 2008 with a 4.7-liter
V-8 making a more stout 420 hp, good enough for a 0–60 time in the high four seconds
with top speed at 178 mph. The design of the Aston Martin V-8 Vantage has been praised
by many car enthusiasts. It has won a variety of design awards from different magazines
and automotive shows throughout the world.
The DB9 is Aston Martin’s grand touring coupe that was released in 2004. Shortly
later, Aston Martin released the DB9 Volante, or convertible. In 2008, the DB9 got
a facelift and a small bump in power. As of today, the 6.0-liter V-12 makes 470
hp and with enough torque to help push the car to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and to a
top speed of 190 mph.
The DBS is the Aston Martin flagship. It made its debut in the James Bond movie
Casino Royale. Power comes from the same 6.0-liter V-12 used in the DB9 but
tuned to make a more robust 510 hp. That power is capable of propelling the car
to sixty in less than five seconds and to a top speed of around 200 mph. A Volante
version is expected to be released in the future.
The Aston Martin Rapide is a four-door sedan with a raked, coupe profile. It is
designed to steal some of the market share away from the successful Mercedes-Benz
CLS and the upcoming Porsche Panamera. The car is scheduled to start production
in 2010 and it is rumored that it will use the same 6.0-liter V-12 that powers other
Astons. The powerplant might be tuned for a good 480 hp.
