Aston Martins are now available at duPont REGISTRY! Aston
Martins have held a special interest to car collectors from around the world since the
company’s foundation in 1913. Aston Martin cars became extremely sought after and gained
widespread notoriety because of their role in the James Bond films. Aston Martin went
up for sale and was quickly purchased by Ford in 1994 and became a part of its Premier
Automotive Group. Ford put Aston Martin up for sale in the early 2000s and it has
since been sold off to private hands. Some of new cars by Aston Martin include
the DBS, the DB9, and the Vantage V-8. The Rapide is one Aston Martin that should
be coming to the market soon.
The Vantage is the least expensive model in the Aston Martin line up. The car was
orignially equipped with a 4.3-liter V-8 making 380 hp. It was replaced in 2008
with a 4.7-liter V-8 making a more stout 420 hp, good enough for a 0–60 time
in the high four seconds with top speed at 178 mph. The design of the Aston Martin
V-8 Vantage has been praised by many car enthusists. It has won a variety of design
awards from different magazines and automotive shows throughout the world.
The DB9 is Aston Martin’s grand touring coupe released in 2004. Shortly later, Aston
Martin released the DB9 Volante or the convertible version. In 2008, the DB9 got
a facelift and a small bump in power. As of today, the 6.0-liter V-12 makes 470
hp and wth enough torque to help push the car to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and to a
top speed of 190 mph.
The DBS is the Aston Martin flagship. It made its debut in the James Bond movie
Casino Royale. Power comes from the same 6.0-liter V-12 used in the DB9 but tuned
to make a more robust 510 hp. That much power is capable of propelling the car to
60 mph in less than five seconds and right around 200 mph. A volante, or convertible,
version is expected to be released in the future.
The Aston Martin Rapide is a four-door sedan with a raked, coupe profile. It is
designed to steal some of the market share away from the successful Mercedes-Benz
CLS and the upcoming Porsche Panamera. The car is scheduled to start production
in 2009 and it is rumored that it will use the same 6.0-liter V-12 that powers other
Astons. The powerplant might be tuned for a good 480 hp.
Aston Martin competes in the exotic car market, which can make the Aston Martins
for sale hard to find. On the higher end it competes against Ferrari
and Lamborghini. On the lower end it competes against the Porsche 911 and other,
less expensive autos. Due to the wide range of prices, Aston Martin automobiles
appeal to a variety of well-off people with different incomes.
